His parenting skills aren't lacking. His kid was in dire need of some slap therapy, a shock to the system that would wake him up from a fucking mind virus delusion he probably picked up from social media, via a Keffals-like pervert on a Discord server or an evil fucking teacher. His son is his son, a young boy, not a girl.
I'll grant there might be genuine transsexuals out there who suffer from a genuine physiologically based affliction for whom the assumption of the characteristics of the opposite sex is their only chance at a fulfilled life, but I assert such people are a statistically insignificant, miniscule fraction of the general population. The vast majority of those claiming to be trans or non-binary are caught up in a memetic assault, bombarded with warped and unnatural messaging that originates from various hostile actors with an agenda. Look at China and TikTok, for example.
I strongly doubt you're a parent yourself. Non-parents are big on offering commentary and advice on parenting but have rarely ever walked the fucking walk. Raising a kid to be a decent, well-rounded and grounded human being is hard work. You feel your way most of the time. Sometimes you get it right and sometimes you get a son who thinks he's a fucking Pretty Princess.

I've read articles and seen interviews about anorexics--almost exclusively young women--who sincerely don't see themselves as emaciated, skeletal horrors. They look in a mirror and project onto it a delusional fantasy self-image completely at odds with objective reality. Some starve to death thinking themselves too fat right up to the moment their organs fail. Neurologists have been researching this phenomenon for years but haven't made any headway--or at least hadn't at the time I followed the topic, which has been several years ago now.
I wonder if there's a correlation between the two, anorexics and troons, if the same delusional mechanism is in play. If so, wouldn't it possible at least some of these people could eventually be treated and cured?

Yes, I agree that old school trans are largely not problematic people, they are nice people who don't harass women, and so on.
However, if you know the history of why transgender identification came into existence, then the eagerness of the system to give him medically assisted suicide is very understandable. It is indeed tragic, but it's always been eugenics from the way down. "Actual Dysphoria" is as real as the feeling of people who have anorexia or cosmetic surgery addiction - the distress of their body image is real, but it doesn't mean that they're 'really' in the wrong body, but in the case of trannies, our culture believes that we should treat them that way.
Back in the 1950s and earlier, it was more of an acknowledged "unspeakable truth" that gender transitioning was to castrate the gays and any other sexual perversion that makes someone wants to be opposite sex. - and in the public, most people were more comfortable with the little lies that "sex change" was possible due to "Science", rather than to accept open-in-public gender nonconformity or homosexuality. There is a reason why in the developed nations, legal gender recognition was legalised before gay marriage. It's also the result of the mechanistic worldview that everything should be neatly categorised with their own roles and all problems solved by progress that was pervasive in the 19th and early 20th century.
And you can't help but feel like the old school transsexuals were just really sad people who were culturally incentivised into having genital mutilation and participate in social lies because that was the only "route" that were available for them... It is as much as their desire to live as an opposite sex and much as the desire of the mass to not accept that some men likes to do feminine things.
Interesting isn't it, that this person acknowledge the fact that he is male and he knows it is a lie. Legally, this person is a female.
I don't know how to describe it succinctly, but I compare "gender transition" as a medical and bureaucratic ritual with function of a pressure release valve of expressions that were not very acceptable to society. Back then they were so few trannies, and most of them were not as annoying as the ones today, so people could accept the lies to make everyone's life easier. However, now we have many of them and the tap is breaking, so we now have to look back and recognise that the way we have always dealt with these people may not be functional anymore. The system wasn't made to accept this much of load.
I'd compare it to nearing the end of Soviet Union, where people are recognising that things were not functional anymore but they pretended that they were. Or how the flaws of closed adoption system in America are surfacing today and how we now have a lot of mentally fucked up adoptee with severe identity issues from it... People were coming to terms with the fact that the closed adoption wasn't set up for children put on adoption as much as to cover up parents sense of pride.
TLDR; The system that allowed "Tru Trans" to happen in olden days were flawed and based on eugenics and social engineering in the first place. However it only becomes a problem today because we get a lot more insane people overloading the house of cards.

I had a quick scan of this person's profile.....
He's a 16 year old black African kid. Seems like his parents are religious, very traditional when it comes to gender roles, and are abusive on occasions.
When he was 3 and he first played video games, he liked to play as female characters, but his dad would scold him and tell him he had to play as male ones. He also preferred to pee sitting down. At age 4 he tried on his mom's lipstick to see what it looked like, but she caught him in the act and beat the shit out of him, claiming that he had a "demon" in him. At that point he stopped experimenting/playing around in ways that wouldn't be considered traditionally masculine.
Fast forward to 8 months ago and he decided he was "AroAce" (no sexual nor romantic attraction to anyone ) and came out to his mom, who accepted him, although that was most likely because he explained that being "AroAce" meant that he wasn't interested in having sex.
1 month after deciding he was "AroAce", he decided he was neither male nor female and wanted to have his genitals removed.
Shortly after deciding he wanted to be a genderless eunuch, he decided he was actually MTF trans. When he came out to his mom, she was furious and told his dad, who said he should be taken to Nigeria and killed.
He's attracted to men and his mom says that makes him gay, but he disagrees and thinks it's because he's a straight trans woman.
It's kinda sad how it's just one big circle jerk of validation on Reddit, even though this kid sounds like he had a tough upbringing from religious parents who were like "you are male and will only do masculine things!". It's likely another case of a teen whose homosexuality was repressed and gender expression was stifled deciding "I must be a girl then!".

The sense of belonging in your own body, and of generating a consistent and realistic internal self-image, are absolutely biological, neurological functions of the brain. You can see that with all the different varieties of body dysmorphia and somatic delusions that exist outside of the sainted "gender disphoria" that is treated as singularly an identity, and not something that a person needs to be helped through. Not surprisingly, there's a strong link between autism and distorted self-image and sense of self.
Somebody posted it way back, but the most successful treatment of people with gender dysphoria has been where you essentially do cognitive behavior therapy, forcing the person to confront the fact that their body does not conform to their delusion, and that that is ok, teaching them to move away from obsessive thoughts. This is also what seems to help with anorexia nervosa. Doesn't always work, but ultimately the only sane and humane treatment is trying to get the sufferer to recognize that they are ok as they are.
And not to put to fine a point on it, but Anorexia nervosa is one of those diseases, like muscle dysmorphia, that is very rare or entirely absent from places not exposed to modern media. I'm not even making "unrealistic body image" argument here, I think that a lot of people have brains that were never meant for the visual stimulus that tv and the internet provide us on a constant basis. Then, when their brains are overstimulated and getting weird, Discord and reddit comes in to channel their nascent dysmorphia into a death spiral of sissy porn and trans imagery that reinforced the delusion, in the same way that some schizophrenics (for example) can get a lot worse if you enable their delusions and feed into them. It really feels like social media is just one giant mental illness enabling machine.
This is an interesting line of thought, as from memory there was research published establishing a link between the genetic factors associated with autism, and with anorexia. So a higher number of anorexics and autists co-occurring (in different individuals) in the same family than would be expected by incidence rates in the general population.
And the link between troonism and autism has been recognised in the literature.

I'm genuinely impressed any of them acknowledged this at all because the main narrative since about 2016 has been that TW just want to pee and not be in the men's prisons. Anybody who objected to anything was vilified and the profilic cases of murderers, pedos and rapists that self-ID'd to women's prisons were ignored. None of these people were talking about Karen White or the multiple cases of pregnancies in female prisons with troons. Owen Jones was recently saying "there's not one example of TW abusing self-ID laws" in a video. They're of course still gonna pretend like this is a singular case and not a recurring trend.
You know Owen Jones is going to get shit for this because his entire schtick is "gay man sucking trooncock" and whenever he questions their victimhood narrative at all, they turn around to eat him alive.

I feel like it's not insignificant that Blaire White and Buck Angel, the biggest representatives for trans people who aren't completely skullfucking crazy, have put in a ton of work to pass but kept their genitals. There's an inherent level of self-acceptance that goes along with that, an awareness that human sexual function is too important to gamble with. It's also a hard stopping point, which is the difference between someone who gets a few cosmetic surgeries and someone who's addicted.
