All you have to do is not make the investigations Benghazi 2.0s and not get involved in primaries that the people want. This would have been a no brainer, especially if you're sincere about running as even a middling republican.

Jordan is following the generally scripted path for thing kind of event. If you know Roman history the Emperor/Dictator/General having power foisted upon them always does a perfunctory "oh I'm not worthy support the good guy" before a second round of begging them to take power occurs. Ultimately this is entirely centered around how hardline these 19 will be. I don't have a list of the people involved but I suspect some of them are very mutinous over the bullshit that went down during the elections and want uniparty blood.

I meant more along the lines of "no McCarthy... period" rather than "Give me xyz position or fuck you." There has to be serious consideration by these 19 to hold up the process indefinitely for McCarthy's coalition to dissolve and a veiled threat to vote for Jeffries if they do not do it fast enough. Prisoner Dilemma has to be brought into play.

If McConnell literally is telling people to vote for Jeffries (D) as speaker to prevent the MAGA uprising from stalling out McCarthy (RINO) in lieu of Jordan (R) then forget voting McConnell out, he'll need Secret Service protection for the remainder of his last term and beyond.
