Despite their assertions about "advanced biology", they don't understand the fundamental concepts of human anatomy and physiology. This makes them perfect targets for exploitation by parties with nefarious intent. If you don't have at least a rudimentary understanding of how your organs work and what they are supposed to do, you are highly susceptible to misinformation about your own body. It's that simple.
If you don't understand a concept, it all seems like magic, and that is where the trouble with distinguishing fantasy from reality begins.
In a way, it's actually very sad that these people are being lied to and can't or won't see it. The problem arises when the rights of other people are curtailed based on the misunderstandings of a (very vocal) special interest group.
It is okay to not know things. There should be no shame in saying, "I don't understand". In the current milieu, however, there's not only no respect for actual expertise, uninformed people are outright encouraged to be suspicious of evidence and the input of subject-matter experts.
