I know he's probably the worst example I could bring up - because he's in jail and waiting to be extradited - but I remember Julian Assange saying something to the effect that when he first came out with Wikileaks he wanted it to be completely anon with no public representatives, but then the media began speculating and printing lies, so he felt the need to step forward as the public face of the site. I would say in the short term it had a positive affect on the public's perception because many nerds & activists liked Assange, felt he was #OneOfUs and he became an idol to many. (Also: donations)

I don't know how much of a martyr complex Joshua Moon has (I know Assange's MC was immense, hence why he ended up where he is now), but if there could be some PR repair without the martyr complex, I think it might be a good thing.

Keffals is pawn in a greater game with money and power backing them (see: the nonstop news outlet spam) and could have easily been replicable by any troon out there since so many of them are like Keffals; grooming kids and acting insane. It's basically Anita Sarkeesian all over again from a decade ago, where people assumed "Had you not given her attention..." and don't realize that it would've been impossible since creating falseflags on the internet is piss easy and the powers that be in the media would've sponsored her regardless, and if not her, someone else.
