Eh, disagree a bit. It’s a city with lots of old Southern money and tradition that has been Austin-ified in the last two decades— meaning shitty California transplants fucking up what used to be a beautiful city. Neighboring Williamson County is one of the wealthiest counties in the country and still votes reliably red.

All the rich families and celebrities in Nashville and Williamson Co send their daughters to Harpeth Hall or St. Cecilia’s, a catholic girls school (the boys go to MBA, a classic “gentleman’s school” that would rather burn down than accept troons.)

Knowing Harpeth Hall and many a HH alum, I cannot see this happening without a fight. The school admins might be a bunch of handmaidens but the moment some troon makes the field hockey team, parents are gonna riot.

hate to keep sperging on this topic, but porn has had numerous downstream effects on culture, widespread acceptance of sex work, being one of them. we're so nonchalant on this topic that young women increasingly find porn/prostitution a legitimate means of earning a living, and then they're surprised to discover they're at something like an 80% chance of being physically assaulted while working in those fields. Even in academia, it's verboten to state the fact that working in a field where your clients are, by definition, sexual degenerates and criminals puts you at a higher risk of being victimized. Instead, it's society's fault that these girls aren't accepted and thus are afraid to go to the police to report their assaults. If you mention that that explanation doesn't give a reason why those sex workers are initially assaulted (before they even have a reason to go to the police to report their assaults), or that such an explanation suggests that the figure of sex workers assaulted is higher than 80%, and that some just don't report it, you're forced to pay for sensitivity training, or you get fired from your post. anyways back to laughing at trannies

Ok, that surgery story is bizarre. X to doubt the whole story. No nurse (at least in America) is going to be that rude about a person's name.

I can understand asking for the birth name if it matches the chart. Hospitals are anal (with good reason!) about your name. Someone could walk in your room and ask if you're Jane Doe and then five seconds later ask for your name. It's a safety thing. Your safety. Just like writing THIS LIMB!!!!! on the leg they are operating on. People make mistakes. Mistakes in the hospital kill people.

The reason no nurse would refuse to use preferred names/pronouns outside of double checking the chart is because hospitals are mostly for-profit businesses. The customer is always right. If the nurse is obviously not pandering you can call for someone to review your treatment. Too many times of that happening to a nurse gets them fired, and that's the sort of thing that follows them to other employers.

I've had quite a few surgeries (unfortunately). If they strap you to the table they do it after you're unconscious. Doing it before hand would freak out the patient and that would probably interfere with the anesthesia. No one man handles you and throws you around the room either. I've usually had to move myself over to the operating room table. If I didn't, then they moved me after I was unconscious.

Lastly, they give you something in your iv to relax you before they wheel you out of pre-op. By the time you're in the or itself your brain is going basically durrrrrrrrrr. I had enough mental clarity to be able to move myself on to the table, but at that point if they'd asked me for my name I'm unsure if I would be able to come up with it. At least not without thought. Once you're in the OR it's maybe a full minute before you're being asked to count backwards from ten (I usually get to 7). I think the longest I waited was well under five minutes.

Surgery prep takes forever, but once they get you out of the room it moves fast and you're not aware of a whole lot. That's been my experience every single time.

She may have thought she was saying all that, but based on my own experiences the nurses were hearing slurring and once they realized she wasn't asking about the temperature (ors are very cold) they ignored her.
