Reflecting on her part. Jennette McCurdy addresses her personal and professional life in her upcoming memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died — which includes her tumultuous time on Nickelodeon.

The former actress, 30, rose to fame playing Sam Puckett on iCarly from 2007 to 2012. After the show ended, McCurdy reprised her role in the network’s spinoff series Sam & Cat. The series, which ran from 2013 to 2014, also starred Ariana Grande in her Victorious role as Cat Valentine.

In an excerpt from her book, which was first posted via The New York Times, McCurdy claimed that she was treated differently by Nickelodeon compared to her costar, 29.

According to the California native, the network prevented her from exploring other career opportunities during her time on Sam & Cat — which didn’t apply to Grande. “What finally undid me was when Ariana came whistle-toning in with excitement because she had spent the previous evening playing charades at Tom Hanks’s house,” McCurdy recalled. “That was the moment I broke.”

The Zoey 101 alum also alleged that after the show was canceled, she rejected a $300,000 offer to not publicly discuss her time at Nickelodeon. McCurdy went on to score a starring role in Netflix’s short-lived series Between before choosing to walk away from the industry.

The former singer previously opened up about her decision to move on from acting. “I quit a few years ago because I initially didn’t want to do it,” she explained during an episode of her “Empty Inside” podcast in March 2021. “I’m so ashamed of the parts I’ve done in the past. … I resent my career in a lot of ways. I feel so unfulfilled by the roles that I played and felt like it was the most cheesy, embarrassing [thing].”

McCurdy continued: “I did the shows that I was on from like 13 to 21, and by 15, I was already embarrassed. My friends at 15 weren’t like ‘Oh, cool, you’re on this Nickelodeon show.’ It was embarrassing. I imagine there’s a very different experience to be had with acting if you’re proud of your roles.”
At the time, the podcast host detailed how she started to audition for roles because of her mother, Debra McCurdy. Following Debra’s death in 2013, Jennette decided to ultimately quit acting. “With her death kind of died a lot of ideas for my life, and that was its own journey — and a difficult one for sure,” she admitted.

In another excerpt from I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette revealed that she isn’t ruling out a return. “I have people around me now that are so supportive and so loving,” she wrote. “It makes me tearful with joy. I feel so safe. I feel so much trust and so much openness.”

I don’t think Ariana Grand actually belonged to them. She was also a lot more cooperative with Dan Schneider regarding her feet than anyone has previously revealed.

Wall Status = Not Hit

But I don't know why she's so hung up on her earlier acting roles being 'cheesy' when she was a kid. There's nothing wrong with a child on a children's show acting goofy and cheesy. It's kind of expected on shows like that: goofy, mindless entertainment.

The cracks are showing, though. Podcast called "Empty Inside"
Dating Basketball Americans. blames her mother for whatever she went through on Nickelodeon.

Maybe she should just move on to other things and stop trying to be a star.

Good on McCurdy for walking out when she could. It's disturbing to see teen-centric sitcoms knowing the conditions those actors and actresses were faced with.

I'm glad she didn't take the payoff money.

She was her parents moneymaker. They pushed her into it. She even made a short film about it. A lot of teen actors feel pigeonholed by their roles. David Cassidy hated the bubblegum pop he had to sing on The Partridge Family.

Maybe some day she'll speak out more about Dan the Footman.

There's three kinds of actors ... stars, working actors, and unemployed actors. Being a working actor isn't such a bad thing. Lots of unemployed actors would love those cheesy, embarrassing roles. But maybe not on Nickelodeon.

Yeah and it's not at all surprising that after Nickelodeon she instantly turned into what us schizos call, an MK Ultra Sex Kitten.

MK Ultra or not, she definitely has her soul metaphorically sold to the big music and entertainment industries.

Sorry to double posted but this was what I was going to post before I felt the need to comment on stupid Ariana.

Jennette was always a crush of mine growing up and she's only got more beautiful. One of only girls I can't help but simp for a little bit.

I don't agree with everything she does but I think she's genuinely a very nice person. Despite being in the Mormon cult religion, she's still not opposed to the idea of God and faith. She actually has certain opinions on things but was willing to talk with Jordan Peterson's daughter. She's open to talk with anyone about anything and has respect for others, a trait you don't see in most people who grew up in Hollywood.

About her opinions on her old roles being cheesy and cringe, honestly I think that's just her way of coping, I wouldn't put too much thought into that.

Dan Schneider is a fat perverted freak and I would not have sex with him. I hope he rots in prison. I think it's amazing what was originally a 4chan meme turned into people realizing how screwed up Dan "get in the van" Schneider really was. Every year the stuff you hear about him gets worse and worse and that bikini and alcohol thing is crazy, just like the old /tv/ threads that speculated on that stuff but with actual big name insider info.

Also anyone who complains about her dating that basketball American that was like 7 years ago now when she was still in Hollywood's butthole. She broken up with him a long time ago, even trashes him, and is with some white dude now.

Just a reminder, this is NOT new:

People have been saying this for years, pointing out how creepy Nickelodeon, Dan Schneider, and the entertainment industry in general is, but getting shot down as "crazy conspiracy theorists".

Jeanette's not making any criminal accusations here, and most likely, this bribe offer story gets memory holed (again). But you, dear reader, just remember - they're all pedos at the top, and everyone in power knows it.

I think she's more embarrassed that she thought she had to blow an overweight, middle-aged kike that worked for a children's network to get a starring role in a tween show at the age of 14 after she found out another star for the same network just had to wiggle her toes to get a role (who has the honor of having a lolcow to take notice of her and sue her).

Doesn't help when your manager is your washed-up, coal-burning mother who's way passed their prime that's trying to live vicariously through her daughter. It's pretty fucked up her own mother pimped her out to a bunch of paunchy Jew pervs.

I'll have to see a candid shot without makeup or Photoshop, but that is definitely a tentative "wall not hit".
She's only 30. The only way you hit the wall by 30 is if you're a drug addict or anorexic. Women who keep themselves healthy can sometimes be hot into their 50s. Of course, part of being healthy means not plastering their entire face in chemical-laden makeup that eats away at their skin, which disqualifies about 95% of women.

The wall is self-inflicted.

I don't know why she's so upset. She should think Nickelodeon for doing her a favor. I'm not saying she's not a good actress, but she doesn’t have star quality. Who wants to go to Tom Hank's home to play board games? He probably buttfucks anyone under the age of 35 that steps foot on his property.

this. she is only 30 which isnt old. unless she is a drug addict, has russian genes, or doesnt take of herself, then women dont hit the wall at 30. 40? sure, that is when tons of women hit the wall, but 30 is still pretty young to be hitting the wall.

The porn industry already has enough fake blonde failed actresses, although on the other hand, it only has slightly more coercive sex than being a child star at Nickelodeon.

The reality is that she isn't qualified to do anything at all. Her biggest ambition is a fucking podcast, because she can't fathom an existence where she actually has to do work to get paid.
