Was Leanna groomed by Phil while she was underage?

You know it is ironic that I just got done writing about someone who literally DOES groom children.
They used "nuance of grooming" by stating they like the age of consent in Europe and some US of 16.

That being said. No I voted no because there are real groomers in this world who do target children. To me age of consent should be 18. Point blank period, that age because it marks the ability to vote.

While she did know what she was getting into Phil did not haveto move her across the country.
 
I don't think Phil could have groomed her in the way that I understand the word, simply because I believe he was as mature as Leanna was at that time. Maybe even less, she might have had a boyfriend before or at least sex without paying for it. Of course, she later grew older and learned, while he stuck where he was. So I personally do not think he did it. He did have contact to her before she was 18, that for sure, but this is not illegal and in my understanding does not have to be grooming. But it is weird of course, and it is always weird to me if you aren't together with someone in your age range. Of course, love sometimes does weird things and I am not here to judge when both are happy, but if you are just together with someone for their fine, young body or inexperience, this can't be a recipe to grow old together.
 
Groomed for sexual purposes? No, Phil's far too immature to comprehend the gravity of what it means. Plus we know that he had no understanding of Leanna's hints that she wanted it.

But there is something to be said for how he tried to manipulate her into becoming completely dependent on him. The move really where he took advantage of her. She was a high school dropout, the closest thing to a "job" was an Etsy soap store (that was barely doing business, leaving her with effectively pocket money) that Phil was paying for the stuff for it and Phil was paying all the bills. Leanna was doing all the housework and Phil didn't care about her health while doing so, to the point of expecting her to make dinner while she was sick in bed instead of being a good SO and making it himself. Phil wanted a live in maid and did what he could to make her one. I suppose that you could call it grooming in a more loose sense of the word.

I kind of agree, at least in the sense that, it wasn't only about the money and status. I think her initial attraction to Phil was largely because he was a YouTube star. I mean, why else would you be attracted to him? Some fans, especially younger ones, are just really weirdly devoted to content creators, no matter how old or repulsive they are. Groups like Channel Awesome and Game Grumps had their fair share.

If Phil didn't have his YouTube fame, I don't think she'd ever even consider dating him. And I don't think it's a stretch to say that his money helped keep the relationship going for as long as it did, even when she was clearly unhappy towards the end. But, you're correct, there were definitely some real feelings from her at various points in the relationship, and she was trying to make it work, so it wasn't only based on her wanting his money.

I'd also say that, even more than with Khet, Phil was using Leanna as a surrogate mother. Waking her up when she was sick to cook dinner is probably the best example of that. I think he's either more timid with Khet because he doesn't want to drive another one away, or Khet is so bad at anything domestic he's just given up. Or it's just that he discovered Door Dash with Khet.
 
In the strict sense of sexually grooming a minor? No.

Did Phil take advantage of her? Yes.
If you look at what happened when they got to Washington Phil basically began immediately ignoring her 24/7. She had to fight him to get him to spend 1 day a week with her, and Replacement Leanna apparently routinely ducks out of it except for the restaurant meals.

I think Phil sold Leanna a life with him that was a lie. With Replacement Leanna he was much more explicit about her being his live-in mom, and this time it worked out because she's a grifter and would actually prefer to be left alone.
 
I think to call him a groomer is a little too far.

There is a level of power dynamics at play in the act of grooming in which the groomer abuses their position to entrap the victim. Phil doesn’t come off smart enough or manipulative enough to abuse the power he held over leanna to force her into a position of staying with him. imo he’s just a greasy opportunist and leanna was content to let Dsp buy stuff for her. It doesn’t really seem like she was trapped in the relationship, but i certainly wasn’t following Dsp when they were together so im no expert.
 
Groomer is someone who takes an underage girl, manipulates her for a long time and then takes advantage of her, while putting her in an absolutely dependant state, so she wouldn't do anything about it. Someone like Onision or to a lesser degree Ethan Ralph.
AFAIK Phil wasn't actively looking for Leanna, more like she was trying to get his attention and he just thought "why not?" The question of her being underage at the time is still open though. Was it healthy? Well, we know already that it wasn't - they weren't really close, Phil was too stingy to pay for her medical bills and in the end preferred to jerk off while having an adult woman almost half his age at his house, even though the camera was on the whole time. Maybe she wanted some of his money and fame, but when all of this disappeared, she decided that it wasn't worth it anymore. Maybe she was too young and naive, so she believed Philbert to be better than he actually is, but then she matured and realized her mistake. Probably, both.
So in the end it was stupid decision, not so stupid for barely legal Leanna, but really stupid for Phil.
 
Incredibly enough, I don't think he groomed her. He is too much of a stickler about "THAT'S ILLEGAL!!!!".
That said, he was definitely in contact with her, and I don't doubt the second she turned 18 he agreed to date her. Maybe they even talked about it, because, from what I understand, she used to be a fan, so she probably contacted him first and started flirting with him.

That said, the daughter jokes never got old because of how much it pissed him off.

She would have been 18 at the time, turning 19 the next month. I do recall her saying in one of her vlogs that she was a 93 baby, so the link that @Negative Toxic Loser posted at least got that right. That picture would've been sent after the 2012 Valentine's day reveal video, so they'd been going steady by that point.

You had me scared that I posted CP for a second there.
 
In the context of exploiting someone for sexual intentions, no. Phil just got lucky some young fan wanted to be around him when he made a good impression on her, and decided to take a chance on a relationship. A lot of girls around her age want to be around a guy with some celebrity status, and thought Phil would be easy street for her life (his career helping her shitty soap career). She might have had puppy love for Phil, but Phil treated her like a maid that would do whatever whether it's stream with him, cuddle (I doubt they had sex. It's possible, but I doubt it), or do something else to make him look sociable on social media. Unless Leanna finally decides to spill the beans on how much of an asshole Phil was, Phil only groomed her as a mommy maid.

This is considered an achievement for some Mgtow and PUA guys that brag about getting younger chicks at 30+. Phil actually accomplished something Mgtow and PUA guys rarely do, and he blew it.

But she loves to cook and clean and take care of the home. That's what he said... when they were still dating. Funny how all that changed when she moved in and got married. It's almost as if she was doing this to trap another sucker into taking care of her.

Khet loves Phil for as long as the ride can last. Once he loses the money, the gout mansion and all that she's going to bail.
