People could just do what I do & use MLK Day to do volunteer work. But that involves actual work, so it's probably not big with the slacktivist crowd.

@Smutley , can we get some of the last posts Jordman, err, posted? I think there was one about Jessica talking about her boobs growing & Jord was like "yeah I wanna get those in the lesbian bearcave hurr hurr." It was mentioned that he's just (heh) hamming it up for his Facebook asspatters, & I'd say that's apt.

I honestly think it's a great thing trans people are getting recognition beyond the stereotypical prostitute or serial killer in things like The Danish Girl and Transparent, but apparently that's not good enough for Jordman.

No, these respectful and lovingly crafted productions are still discriminatory because these awful cishet studios would rather not spend millions more tracking down a trans actor/actress that just so happens to have acting skills on par with these easier to find actors.

Jesus Christ, talk about double standards.
 
That's Tumblr logic for you: producers, directors, studios.... they aren't supposed to take into account things like acting ability or appearance or name recognition. It's all gotta be an identity politics checklist, where the most important part of getting a part is to be the right race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ect.

Two problems with that, though:

1) Most trans people who are able to pass and function within society don't tend to want to draw attention to themselves and they REALLY don't want to draw attention to their being trans.

2) When trans people are early on in transition or pre-transition, yeah, they look like their birth sex. It takes time and hormones and, sometimes, surgery for them to get the right look.

I swear, I hate identity politics.

Now i may be a simple country CIS shit lord but surely the goal of trans actors should be to actually be cast as a the gender they identify as rather than just type casting them.

I think you should be able to do the following things in San Francisco:

-Have Thomas arrested for public indecency, exposure, drug use, unauthorized panhandling, prostitution, and being a fat ugly waste of life.
