Being in touch with nipponese people, I know Abe was a fairly standard "republican" (not really but you get the idea) sort of politician and relatively chill. Not gonna say he was any sort of saint or anything, but he was just a fairly normal politician doing his thing. Even modern attempts to address and improve the whole sexism thing at a legal level came during his time.
