Because of that shit, I feel so cringe filling the graph "hobbies" anywhere. Vidya, table games, fantasy books, even fucking anime are just as ok as hobby as knitting but each time I think about it, the tard crowd like this comes to my mind. They are the last thing I'd want to be associated with even virtually just because sometimes I play DOOM.

The new wave of young troons is mostly from white middle-class two-parent families. The parents left them alone on the internet because they had no idea who/what was lurking on the internet ready to influence them, but these kids weren’t neglected in terms of not being fed or parents not knowing where they are; that’s a different demographic.
Ironically these kids probably would have been better off if their parents practiced more of the “I don’t know exactly where my (older) kid is” style of parenting now and then, because maybe they would have been allowed to fucking go outside.
The type of zoomers who troon out are more likely to come from the American middle class helicopter parenting style (which does stunt kids emotionally and socially). Especially early on, these kids were victims of parents who enthusiastically “affirmed” them and went along with everything they wanted in their transition, because they believe that their kids are wise miniature adults: that’s an extremely middle class/upper middle class way of raising children.
If it was a matter of broken homes or absent parents or material neglect, Gen Z troons wouldn’t be so overwhelmingly white (and to a lesser extent Asian).

I think it's more that they saw the Kardashians and Jenners (and their ilk) progressively molding themselves into ever more plastic bodies, covered with ever more makeup, and wearing ever skimpier clothes. They watched every influencer on social media putting on Kim makeup and getting Kylie lip injections, trying to check off all the boxes of How To Be Hot. If they grew up on social media at all, they saw an overwhelming push toward a uniform "how to be a hot girl" standard, and all of those decisions were being made for them by some media whores in socal. That one look has absolutely dominated the popular aesthetic for, I don't know, 10+ years by now.
They could have stumbled into a subculture that pushed against this in a healthy way, like VSCO girls and their more natural looks and comfy styles. Unfortunately, they stumbled into a much louder subculture that told them, "You don't have to be a plucked, plastic influencer wannabe who never steps outside their bedroom without full contour on... if you're a boy!"
Do you have a source for this? I can't find any info on what type of households trans youth come from. I think the loudest troons probably do come from white middle-class two-parent families, but there's a more silent (still loud though considering how much they beg for money) majority who come from unstable homes.
It's not entirely the parents fault, there's a big rant I could go on about transportation infrastructure and urban density and car centric city planning and restrictive zoning laws and how they all indirectly limit the freedom of movement of kids and teens, but that's way outside the scope of this thread. The important part is these little shits don't get out enough.

It's more than just that, I think. We live in a culture where being a special snowflake is the end all be all, and a lot of these FTMs would have(and probably did) identified as "gay/bi/whatever" ten years ago, because back then that was at the cutting edge of snowflakeness.

You have to remember it isn't relegated to video or table top games. The tard crowd is everywhere, it just hyperfocuses with men in technical or physical areas. There are autists in the sports world who obsess over certain teams and athletes. There are autistic girls who obsess over the minutiae of what makes someone a Hufflepuff or a Slytherine. Video games are just so popular, much like film or television, that that is where the propaganda materialises significantly more and attracts the most attention. Most people who would be interested in playing card or tabletop games are never going to touch it with a ten foot pole in the first place because of the autists. It also means catering to those autists because they are the ones who happily fork over $80 for a ruleset every three years to keep up with the official guides, or spend thousands on replacing "old" figures. You'll probably find the whales playing Warhammer and DnD are those who have no children and obsess over gender politics. I can tell you right now the people I know who play these are the lesbian, "genderqueer", lesbian, etc, weirdos I refuse to associate with and only know about because my friends who are just generally shy also attend. The latter make up probably less than 10% of the crowd that I know. There are weirdos who obsess over knitting too, the mummy-types who gatekeep it so only those who use certain techniques or create certain themes are welcome. Likewise, 90% of Paradox multiplayer Discords are either Fascists or Communists only and will get into shouting matches over the minutiae of ideology.
It's always a losing battle because they are the ones who have the time and money, and you don't. Massively successful films and games and whatever else cannot survive by pandering to subsections of an audience. Battlefield 5 failed to meet expectations by a huge bar because of it and forced change back to the general audience. DnD cannot do anything but pander to niche groups, which is either nerds who grow up and out of gaming, or permanent teenagers who will never have nothing to spend on. It was almost inevitable to see these changes in that scene. Twenty years from now they'll pander to whatever other thing is in the zeitgeist with teenagers and young adults.
It is good to keep in mind that weirdos are usually only going to be the most visible part of the community. That's actually something WotC/Hasbro's own marketing team constantly says with regards to magic the gathering, so I imagine it's very likely also true for DnD, Warhammer, and a number of other nerd hobbies.
According to the Hasbro's own market research, the vast majority of magic the gathering players never interact with other magic the gathering players, or forums, or communities, or competitive events, or anything. On average magic the gathering players are normies who buy a few packs of cards and play with their friends in the privacy of their own homes. But this silent majority is totally invisible to the heavily invested players, the freaks and the nerds, so the company is stuck between trying to appeal to the most vocal evangels of their product or trying to appeal to the people that actually make up the majority of their sales. That's why you get the "get woke, go broke" phenomenon, pander too much to the vocal minority and you alienate the silent majority.
In short, troons massively overestimate how much influence they actually have over the products they consume, and sometimes even the people making the products fall for the ruse, to their detriment.

I don't have an official source (and I don't know if anyone has actually collected relevant data), I'm just going from observation and trends I've seen. There are definitely a few troons out there from unstable backgrounds, but I don't think they're the majority or even close to it. Most e-begging troons are begging because they have cut off contact with their family on the advice of the cult.
Abigail Shrier interviewed a lot of parents of ROGD girls in her book, and the parents fit the middle-class parenting style I was talking about. Obviously book interviews are not meaningful on a population level, but it matched up to everything I have observed.
I also should have been more specific when I said the "new wave" of troons; I mean specifically the young heterosexual ones who make up the bulk of the gender explosion in the last 5 years or so. I think when it comes to say, HSTS, white people aren't overrepresented and might actually be underrepresented. But Gaydens and transbians are overwhelmingly white.

With the specification about "new wave" in mind (it's usually the people I refer to as troons, or troonbians. Haven't really ever seen a HSTS on the wild), my own anecdata seems to match yours. Most of them even had doting parents, in fact.
99% of the troons I encountered don't know what abuse or grief is, if anything they were or are overly pampered. Their idea of abuse is daddy not dishing out a few hundred American dollahs for a PS5 on demand (which I find disgusting for powerlevel reasons, but I digress), and if they are in actual dire straits it's usually because of absolutely retarded life choices (like refusing cozy, decently paid jobs over not being able to do random shit with his phone. Maybe Europe is different but I don't know of any boss, manager or HR person that would be okay with this)
EDIT: For the record I've seen a nontrivial amount of asian-american and black troons, but even with cultural differences that could apply, they are identical to white ones, but seem to post less propaganda and are more silent about it on social media that isn't like Discord or so. White ones are an overwhelming majority though, but just wanted to point that out.
