Some terves here turned me on to the podcast “Gender, a wider lens”, where two psychologists who seem pretty skeptical about the validity of gender ideology interview guests and experts. I’ve only listened to a couple, but they’re really interesting.
This is a dumb thing for me to fixate on, but it’s amazing to me that these people, who can’t survive the current year hypercomfort cornucopia without ebegging and endless affirmations and accommodations and demands to warp the reality field, believe that in an apocalypse, they would be the ones to survive and mete out violence. I understand that these are dumb fantasies, but my god. This plus that Manhunt book really bakes the old noodle.
They talk to some OG experts in the field and at least one (maybe Michael Bailey?) mentions that there’s some early anecdotal evidence that paraphilias run in specific clusters and also in families. So a dude who has a tendency toward AGP might also be into masochism or whatever, and an AGP dude is more likely to have an AGP son than a HSTS son and vice versa.
There’s also an interview with a fairly self reflective post op middle aged AGP who did the classic “get married, father a couple kids, troon out after 40” thing. It was horrifying but informative. At one point he said that it’s sort of like these men have your traditional midlife irrational affair that they cannot be talked out of, but the other woman is basically themselves. He also said that the fundamental reason he went down the path he did was that it was available and visible.
I don’t know how women can avoid getting involved with these men, short of asking really personal questions about what turns them on and hoping they don’t lie. The late blooming AGPs don’t seem that easy to spot because a lot of them appear quite masculine until mid life, and they retroactively lie about how they always knew they were a wahmen. Several of the experts did mention that a common element is early erotic fixation on articles of woman’s clothing. So I guess that’s a fun screener question for the first date.
Something else interesting a guy (the welsh psychiatrist) on that podcast said was that autism appears very prevalent in the population of troons, so they often lack good theory of mind. He talked about how patients in his therapy groups would be like “I went out en femme and everyone totally believed I was a woman” and if he asked how they knew that, they would offer as evidence obvious polite lies like “they called me ma’am and nobody stared”. He also tied the autism to the pronoun freakouts, where maybe a more neurotypical person would understand that people use words to be polite even if they don’t really believe in them, but an autistic train would just freak the fuck out if someone slips up, because it pierces the reality veil, IT’S MA’AM.

Real survivors would surely have resources, skills, and a strong and functional community, plus be in decent physical shape and be physically and mentally tough enough to handle deprivation?
Twitter-mad coomer fetishists with complex medical needs, narcissistic inability to form tight tribal bonds, an addiction to comfort and a horror of discomfort, few to no resources and no practical skills seem like the first people who will fail if it really gets bad. I would literally bet on insane homeless meth users over a bunch of twitter troons. At least the homeless meth guys are used to scrounging and living rough, once they kick the habit they’ll probably do okay for a while.
I get that they’re just angrily fantasizing to each other, but this particular fantasy seems such a 180 from reality that it’s quite startling. When you lurk the Tenacious Unicorn ranch thread, you can see how a bunch of mentally ill troons can’t even make it without constant external support while times are still easy and they can pick up propane and food whenever they want. I just don’t understand how you could be so nuts that you think you’ll be the wasteland warlord when you’re obviously the tragic sucker who dies in the failing city in the first two weeks. I know, I know, expecting realistic analysis from the gender cult is pointless.

I'll never understand why these people post their gynecomastia tits and amholes publicly on Twitter, but telling a doctor about said chemical/surgical alterations is "rarely ever relevant" - you're showing the rest of the world who did not ask, so why stop at those who do? You won't tell a medical professional for "safety reasons" but plaster every online surface you have with the troon flag?

In the off-topic vein of post-apocalyptic books there's a science fiction series I started a decade ago, but never got around to reading the rest of the books, by John Ringo called The Council Wars.
Its been a long time, but from what I remember of the plot, a highly advanced civilization that relies far more on tech than we do suffers a catastrophic failure of that tech, killing millions and dropping people back into the industrial age.
The book focuses on this one dude who was laughed at his entire life for having a passion for the "outdated" skills of what we'd even consider rustic living. He ends up gathering survivors and rebuilding a community and I don't remember what happens because I never read the rest. The first book gets into the weeds without being autistic about what it takes to go from a high tech society to low tech rustic life. It's really well researched and written.
If Manhunt is giving you a headache and you want to see what competent post-apocalyptic fiction looks like...
It's a Baen series, so the first book is free. If you don't want drm I think Baen still offers them on their website.

If you guys wanted to know why Gretchen Felker-Martin and her book popped up in the press a month after the book release?
It's because it's tanking. Despite national media coverage before release, and Tor's usual "get a few thousand copies picked up by libraries to boost the first week sales" shenanigans, it's barely selling a couple hundred copies a week this soon after release. And most of that probably due to morbid curiosity.
This is an attempted press/PR campaign to salvage a book that's going to cost Tor more money than it will ever make them.
