What a horrifying thoughtMaybe he's a furry ween?
Found out the guy that was suiting in the Confederate fursuit was someone that made a replica of a dead guy's fursuit and took it to a convention. What I don't understand is how far furries like that go to troll people, I mean hell that's like 6,000 dollarinos in a lowball estimate just to rile up people.
$6,000 is a little high even for a full body suit. A solid high-quality fursuit will cost you somewhere in the $1,250 - $1,600 range these days. More than that if you go to Monoyasha or Beastcub who specialize in highly realistic animal costumes and "quad" suits and stuff like that, or if you request extra articulation in things like your suit's jaws or wings.
Still, that's a lot of money to spend on a tasteless gimmick and normally I'd doubt that claim outright... however considering this winner actually commissioned a rebel flag fursuit I withdraw my argument.
I kept abreast of this on Twitter while I was in the car today and apparently there were furs at the convention vandalizing and ruining the suit by throwing things like cups of soda at him and all of that. Normally this is behavior I wouldn't condone -- and to some extent I kind of still don't -- but I do admit I find it refreshing that at least my neck of the woods still has the common decency to shun racist ideologies. We may have given the world wearable horsecock fuck sheaths, but at least we don't tolerate racism.![]()
Someone who used to live next door to me had their flag out all the time. This is just normal to them.Honestly, the rebel flag suiter is probably just a redneck, not a troll. Having been around quite a few rednecks in my day I can say for a fact that confederate flag everything is something they very much enjoy. Even rednecks in... atypical demographic will still fly it (I know rainbow rebel flags are something a lot of queer southerners will fly).
damn.On the subject of Nazi furs, I've heard from the furries I know that within the fandom they're considered even worse than babyfurs. You know you've fucked up when even babyfurs are higher on the pecking order than you.

ThisCrispyKat? Apparently it's a she. Still at it, still hides swastikas in artz a la Where's Waldo.Speaking of Nazi furries, I'm reminded of this one guy with an eagle fursona who mostly drew Care Bears stuff... though the picture of theirs I remember the most was one of Kimba the white lion going "I just LOVE being white!".
I still don't know whether the guy was just doing stealthy satire or not... The art was done way too professionally for me to be sure.
That's too funny not be a joke...right?though the picture of theirs I remember the most was one of Kimba the white lion going "I just LOVE being white!".
I think I just found my new desktop wallpaper.
Not bad at all (though I'm sure Mr. Tezuka wouldn't be pleased if he knew)!I think I just found my new desktop wallpaper.
If the fursuit in question is the yellow/pink coyote with the halo, that is Lemonade Coyote and that suit was not a replica. That was Lemonade's original suit with a halo added to it being worn by one of his close friends. I believe the "halo version" of the suit was worn to one convention and was its final appearance so friends and congoers could pay their final respects.
I saw the real Lemonade Coyote suit out and about during Anthrocon this year and I think it was also at MFF this past weekend (I think it's first public appearance since Lemonade's death was at MFF 2014, when it was sporting the halo). I believe they said Lemonade's mother gave the suit back to the friend that built it for him after a while. I think the idea was to let his character live on in remembrance. It's kind of weird but if that's the weirdest thing you've heard coming from this fandom you've probably not read any of the past 156 pages.
I heard security at MFF this year was getting out of control, so I wonder if the confederate flag guy got in trouble for his suit or if he did something wrong and Security went apeshit.
I've heard about Lemonade coyote before. Why is he so important? I'm sure other furries have passed away, but you never hear about it. Was he popufur?

Sort of? News of furries passing tends not to extend much further than the fandom itself. For example, in the recent Paris shootings there was one confirmed furry among the deceased; a friend of the victim created some tribute artwork and there was an outpouring of support and such. HarmonyHeartstrings, known mostly on furry subreddits, ended her life a couple of months ago and news of her passing was also confined largely within the fandom and among her audience.
There were also tributes and remembrances for the artist Doug Winger, who passed away earlier this year and was a popular artist in the 90's. More recently, in regards to the 00's, similar remembrances for Brian Dyer (Athus Nadorian) were also held when he died in a vehicle accident in 2011.
You're probably correct in that popufurs receive more attention in general, however the first two furs I mentioned in this post weren't really popular in any sense, yet word of their passing still made its rounds.
It's not uncommon for the fandom to keep the memories of the dead alive, as is the case with Lemonade Coyote. In regards to the aforementioned Athus, several people whom I am close with normally request to be left alone on the anniversary of his death. Everyone deals with it differently, I guess, but since we're naturally a creative bunch there's sincerity in all of it.
edit: This got depressing fast. You'd think that we'd be a little more ready for this whole Lion King "circle of life" bullshit given the nature of our fandom, but I'll be damned if things like this don't immediately bring me down. Some of my friends are among the deceased now, so I tend to be a bit more sensitive toward news like that.
