I don't think the plan is to steal it. It is to keep it tied up legally. If the money got released back to the donors it would likely just get redonated to a different crowdfund for the convoy.

Organizers provided a clear distribution plan for the initial $1M that was released earlier this week and confirmed funds would be used only for participants who traveled to Ottawa to participate in a peaceful protest. Given how this situation has evolved, no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers — we will work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities verified by GoFundMe.

All donors may submit a request for a full refund until February 19th, 2022 using this dedicated refund form.

@Cat Bread Do you think that he's so socially inept he's never been to a concert or a circle track or some other venue that's so loud that the only way to hear someone is to literally put your mouth up to their ear and yell? It seems to me this guy may be so stunted he literally doesn't understand that.

This is infuriating. I don't understand how it can even be legal... and I don't understand how anyone can see this and still think the truckers are the bad guys.

Alright. Finished reading their stupid TOS.

By donating, you agreed to binding INDIVIDUAL arbitration. Which means GoFundMe cannot be class action sued, but it can receive a couple million arbitration demands. Per their contract, they cannot move these individual claims out of arbitration and attempt to consolidate them in court because their TOS also says that GoFundMe itself waives this right :story:


This is literally what hoisted Patreon by its ass! Requires Federal instead of State though sadly, unless you live in California. which means you will have to pay your end of things. Maybe someone should set up a charity for these things.

Any Charity that receives the money however falls outside the Arbitration clause. It's open season on them. IANAL though so talk to an actual attorney. It's possible there are ways to breach their arbitration clause.
