So it must've been the late summer of 98, he abruptly announced his retirement in October and I'm thinking 'shit what have I done? Over an IRC channel?'

I had C2C on all the time on the graveyard shift at a data center so I probably heard you call in. A war started when Art's webmaster Keith Rowland kicked a bunch of us off for ridiculing some of the bigger fakes he featured like the Alien Burrito fiasco. Web forums like Howl , Fantastic Forum, and Hazy Reports saw a lot of infighting and doxing.
