I do wonder where this line of thinking came from originally, because while it currently is attributed to the impotent urban elite, the notion that the military must be composed of oversocialized clone troopers in order to function isn't neccesarily a Current Year thing. Perhaps it's as old as war itself, but it reeks of a mindset of people who think they are above enforcing their ideology on dissidents directly.

The left has looked down on the military and outright hated them for decades.

I listen to the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) radio system regularly, like every day for several years now. They are on a trunked radio, so you hear them province-wide, and the cops with the boots on the ground are unsympathetic to the covid regulation, without question. They were not happy about being called to knock on peoples doors on Easter or when people drove around Sundays looking for cars in church parking lots to report the churches and get the cops to fuck with them.

The hyper-online left greatly overestimate the support they have for their pet issues. Most people just don't pay much attention. It becomes obvious when you see the polling on this shit. The Streisand effect is really going to fuck them in the long run. CoVID is just the first time that Joe and Jane Doe average has had it thrust into their faces.
