Who would've thought Ethan "Adrienne" Ralph would spend $900 on a female accessory in order to 'own' us, and then this little thing, this "murse", would eventually lead to Daddy Jim dunking on the fat fuck enough that in his pig rage he attacked Jade, exiled Gator, wrote a gay diary breakup entry, and embarrassed himself with his own TTS mocking his butthole eyes while 2k people laughed on Flamenco's stream snipe.

I don't know what the future holds for this purse, but I hope it continues to go places and do wondrous things for the world.

This is not aimed particularly at you, but it's crystallised something I've been thinking all day, so thank you for that.

I intermittently lurked and read here for a few years before signing up. Maybe 3, maybe longer, don't really recall or care. One of the things that always gave me a chuckle was that for a site supposedly full of "viciously bigoted doxing fascists," most people here almost overwhelmingly enjoy and cheer redemption arcs when they do happen.
Gator though? Nah. Not happening to anywhere near the same extent.
This should, but won't, make him have a good, hard think about things, since he's bound to read the thread.

Yeah, but I'm mostly talking about how it relates to Null, who to my knowledge, is the only person Gator was happy to attack and disparage even without Ralph urging him to do so. I don't care if people choose to follow or listen to Gator, I personally think he's a spineless weasel on top of being a black hole of charisma, but I DO care that he's assigned such an intense label on someone without the expectation of having to justify or rationalize it.

I avoid things that make me angry very deliberately. The site's primary purpose is to make people laugh. If it doesn't make me laugh I ignore it. That's why you almost never see me in the politics boards.

My opinion is that the site's continued success over the years is owed to this philosophy. People like Gator try to paint it as a personal army, but if it were really used as such, I don't think so many people would participate in it. The outlook that things should be casual, lighthearted, and hands-off is fundamental to the community. If I let shit get to me it'd be a poison and it would definitely drive users away.

It really comes down to if the person having redemption was malicious or not. Watching some guy who was harmless but sperged on the internet turn their life around is always good, but when someone does shit like Ralph has done or EDP it's a very different thing. Gator is just an extension of Ralph because of how long he was Ralph's man servant and how vigorously he defended Ralph. Though even then maybe he can still find a way to somehow redeem himself but it's a much harder journey.

As far as true hate or toxic animosity, it depends on the lolcow. Go on the DSP board, and you'll see the irrational level of toxic animosity. I love laughing at DSP, and genuinely hope he stays around, but you read that board and you'd think they'd high five eachother if they heard he got shot in a burglary.

But guys like Gator might fall into the same category as people like Matt Jarbo. Their personality and conviction is just too teeth grinding to fully accept. Guys like Warski, Failure and even (for me at least) DSP have those golden redemption moments where it's like they're Sting coming down from the rafters at WCW. They pull something out of their coat to save the day. But when it came down to Jarbo everyone realized "he's not a good guy that made mistakes, he's just a piece of shit and can't change"

It remains to be seen how Gator will come about this. My biggest beef for why I can't accept Gator is he should've drawn the line at Faith being groomed, the revenge porn, the car crash, not being invited to Vegas, and the horrifically evil shit he said about Warski and Nick's family. But that the fat nerd drew the line at daddy jim crossing the gunt. That was Gators spineless beta coward line. He drew the line at Jim. A rational human being would've draw the line at the revenge porn, but not gator.
