What has Ralph accomplished since landing in Portugal? He's stayed in one city going from restaurant to restaurant looking at streets he happens to come across along the way. He's eaten at Burger King allegedly numerous times and had a few other meals which Meigh could have done herself at home. He's been relentlessly browsing Twitter and the KF, bitching about wifi and betting on sports. The only reason he ever left the US was because of spite. He has done fuck all in a country which once had a navy to rule the world, has fantastic cuisine, landmarks from over two thousand years of habitation (which in my experience is crazy or even exotic for a lot of Americans) and was in the midst of grand historical events like the Reconquista--Ralph is the quintessential American tourist despised around the globe. There is absolutely no point for him to have ever left the US because he hasn't done anything he couldn't have done from the confines of his hut and he will never seek any experience for the sake of expanding himself (except horizontally).

I've traveled a fair bit and if I'd ever approached it like Ralph I never would have visited another country after the first time. It's totally wasted and all he's gained from it is being able to now say he's officially a disgrace across numerous continents.
