People vaccinated against Covid-19 less likely to die from any cause, study finds

(CNN)People who got Covid-19 vaccines were not only less likely to die from the virus, but they were less likely to die from any cause over the following months, researchers reported Friday.
The research team was trying to demonstrate that the three authorized Covid-19 vaccines are safe and they say their findings clearly demonstrate that.
"Recipients of the Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, or Janssen vaccines had lower non--COVID-19 mortality risk than did the unvaccinated comparison groups," the researchers wrote in the weekly report of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
"COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States have shown again and again to be safe. This study also confirms their safety," Stanley Xu, a researcher at the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research and Evaluation, who led the study team, told CNN by email.

New CDC data shows the risk of dying from Covid-19 is 11 times higher for unvaccinated adults than for fully vaccinated adults

"In fact, it shows that people vaccinated for COVID-19 had lower death rates than those who were not vaccinated, even when COVID deaths were excluded. That's in addition to the mounting evidence from other studies showing that the COVID-19 vaccines are effective against COVID-19 infection, serious illness, and death."
The team studied 6.4 million people who had been vaccinated against Covid-19 and compared them to 4.6 million people who had received flu shots in recent years but who had not been vaccinated against coronavirus. They filtered out anyone who had died from Covid-19 or after a recent positive coronavirus test.
"During December 2020-July 2021, COVID-19 vaccine recipients had lower rates of non-COVID-19 mortality than did unvaccinated persons after adjusting for age, sex, race and ethnicity, and study site," they wrote.
People who got two doses of Pfizer vaccines were 34% as likely to die of non-coronavirus causes in the following months as unvaccinated people, the study found. People who got two doses of Moderna vaccine were 31% as likely to die as unvaccinated people, and those who got Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine were 54% as likely to die, Xu said

Part of this is probably because people who get vaccinated tend to be healthier than people who don't the researchers noted.
"The lower mortality risk after COVID-19 vaccination suggests substantial healthy vaccinee effects (i.e., vaccinated persons tend to be healthier than unvaccinated persons), which will be explored in future analyses," they wrote.
"This finding reinforces the safety profile of currently approved COVID-19 vaccines in the United States. All persons aged 12 years and older should receive a COVID-19 vaccine," they concluded.

Vivec Murthy warned you. He warned you to lay off the Skooma. He warned you about the dangers of Corprus, instructing you to socially distance yourself from the shambling stalkers roaming the base of Red Mountain. You didn't listen. And now, you belong to Dagoth Ur.

This is trash. It's been less than a year. There's no way to reasonably make this claim.

This is a textbook example of the kind of article a teacher would bring to their intro to stats class to demonstrate unethical representation of studies. Even the slowest community college student would agree that it's absurd to suggest that a vaccine would protect against car crashes.

But it does! havent you heared the french scientist ted talk about it?

Lmao his reasoning for why kids should get the vaccine is this?

1. Mental peace of mind and comfort
2. Reduces pressure to quarantine
3. Parents will feel more comfortable with kids doing activities

Literally do what we say to feel comfortable and do things lol science!

The amount of people who act tough about the vaccine who turn out to be vaccinated is hilarious.

Just look at Novak Jovovich. Refuses to play tennis because he won't reveal if he is vaccinated or not lol.

I would put money on alot the same retards seething about the vaccine actually being vaccinated including this thread.
You can be vaccinated and still think CNN and the vaccine worshippers are exceptional. Likewise you can not be vaccinated and still think the hard anti vax nuts are exceptional.

Just like I'm pro kiwi farms yet think many of us are exceptional.

Given the widespread manipulation of statistics relating to covid that we've seen from the start, you'll excuse me if I'm a bit skeptical. I'm not saying it's impossible this is true, but I wouldn't bet money on it being true. Especially after a years worth of ever changing studies on the effectiveness of said vaccine.

Fuck it, I'm remaining unjabbed. I've had so many contacts with people who tested positive within a day that I'm just not worried anymore. I've been out and about this whole time and been just fine. I just really can't be bothered to give a damn anymore.

@Drain Todger you can conclude that this article is laughable fraud just from the first two paragraphs alone (see underlined).

In a sane research climate these 'researchers' would be fucking grilled by their institution's media liaison for letting CNN report something like this about their work. It's basic statistics 101 that you cannot prove shit that you didn't explicitly set out to prove. Experiment design and statistical tests just mathematically don't work that way. You have to know what it is that you're trying to prove/disprove before you set up the experiment (so that you can actually control for stuff and adjust significance/power of the tests appropriately, etc).

So if they set out to prove that 'the vaccines are safe', then 'the vaccines being safe' vs 'can't conclude that' is the only thing their experiment can tell them. They can't look at the data and make other post-hoc conclusions. They haven't controlled for any of that other shit and their statistical tests haven't been calibrated to test any other claims.

Right. It doesn't actually tell us anything. They're trying to imply that "look, the people who vaccinate are dying less of all causes, so that means it's safe!"

However, the correlation could be - and very likely is - completely spurious.

No, thanks.
You're protected though, so you won't need to worry about all of us seething retards.... right?

Because anyone stupid enough to get the clot shot is such a pile of neuroses they've spent the last two years hiding under their bed. It's easy to stay alive when you're too afraid to go touch grass.
I hate the way all the media is talking about the side effect as clots.

Like when they describe it as a blood cloth in the brain and bleeding. To make is sound much more benign/trivial that it actually is.

We have a 6 letter word for this condition already, it is called STROKE. And it is often a life-changing event.

And? So what if they are?
