Tucker Carlson snidely claims Pete Buttigieg took paternity leave to “figure out how to breastfeed”

Rightwing pundits have launched a coordinated attack on the out Transportation Secretary after he and his husband adopted newborn twins.

Fox host Tucker Carlson regularly spews blatantly homophobic and racist drivel during his time on air, but he may have hit a new low on last night’s program. The host claimed out Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg had taken paternity leave to “figure out how to breastfeed.”

As part of a blatantly homophobic smear campaign, rightwing pundits and politicians have attacked Buttigieg’s decision to spend time with his husband, Chasten, and their newborn twins, Penelope Rose and Joseph August.

“Pete Buttigieg has been on leave from his job since August after adopting a child. Paternity leave, they call it, trying to figure out how to breastfeed. No word on how that went,” Carlson ranted during a piece on inflation and rising prices.

Fox News provides employees with six weeks of paternity leave – and encourages them to use it. Several of Tucker’s colleagues have praised the perk on-air.

Conservatives are blaming Buttigieg for supply chain issues and backups at the Port of Los Angeles. Now they’re including his children in the blame game and wrapping it all in a big homophobic bow.

“We have the biggest transportation crisis in years and PeteButtigieg is on maternity leave,” GOP House candidate Buzz Patterson tweeted.

“Did the biological woman who actually gave birth to the children of PeteButtigieg and Chasten get paid maternity leave, too?” pundit Todd Starnes asked.

People all over Twitter quickly rallied to Buttigieg’s defense, pointing out the base insult behind Carlson and his cohorts insults and insinuations.

“Pete Buttigieg is an American Hero,” one user wrote. “Tucker Carlson; a homophobic Zero.”

“I took two weeks paternity leave after the birth of each of my kids,” attorney Bradley Moss tweeted. “Not all of us were raised among the uber-wealthy who ship their kids off to boarding school. Some of us take time off to care for our kids.”

What does his husband do?

Pete and Chasten CHOSE to get kids at this particular time. Everything about it is a CHOICE.

Straight couples do their family planning around when they can afford to have kids, and part of being able to afford kids is being able to take time off.

The timing on this sucks.

No matter the job, people deserve time off to be with their kids. Pretending that people never deserve such time off plays into the hands of big business that doesn’t give a shit about you or me or anyone. Hell it’s part of the bullshit that’s convinced people paternity leave is nonsense for fathers wanting to be with their kids.
So jokes about Biden aside, would you be fine if say, the President took a couple months off for family leave? Or the head if the Joint Chiefs of Staff during a war?

Some positions of responsibility require full attention. If you don't want the responsibility, don't take the paycheck.

"Rich man gets parental leave by adopting kid to abdicate responsibility. This is okay because he likes penis, so let him take up a hospital bed to fulfill his make believe fantasy that his husband gave birth."

If you had to choose between gay couples adopting or those babies being aborted, which would you pick?
Retarded false dichotomy. You really think these guys adopted some down-at-heel woman's used, unwanted sprog? They had one custom made for themselves, probably using some repellant homo sperm mingling procedure, and they spend tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to get kids exactly the color, sex, and specs they ordered.

The idea of fathers getting time off when they get/have kids is nice. A week or two, maybe a month provided they work jobs that can cover for them. But it's nothing about 'deserve.' Farmers, business owners, self-employed people of all kinds 'deserve' paternity leave, but they don't get it. They can't get it. Because they chose a job where if they weren't there almost every day, putting in at least some work, the operation would fall apart.

If Pete wanted two months of paternity leave, he should have LEARNED TO CODE, and worked as a midlevel salary slave in a skyscraper.

Newborns are newborns, true, it's a big adjustment. But give his manwife the two months, since he has the job with less responsibility. Pete should get a week, then maybe the rest of the month working from home.

Everyone deserves maternity or paternity leave and Pete being at work wouldn’t solve supply chain issues caused by lockdowns.

Guy deserves time with his kids and those disgusted with him are sperging out in such a way it demeans those ridiculing the odd lockdown measures.
Go to helk. Children need a mother and a father not two stupid butt pirates. Why are they sitting in the hospital bed? They can't give birth.
