I HAVE FOUND MY PEOPLE.

pendulum summoning recently been added to duel links. as garbage as the gacha part of the game is i'm addicted, sue me. made a nice melodious deck with what i could salvage with my gems, been alternating between that and my built blue-eyes deck during ranked duels.

seto kaiba was my first fictional crush ngl, i still love the guy years later and it rubs off on my playstyles hard. the anime, as dumb as it was, was really great and pulled off some awesome shit that appealed to my silly child brain all those years ago. it got dumber and dumber as the times went on, but i'd be lying if i said the original series' ending with the pharaoh walkin through the door doesn't get me emotional.

as far as tcg/ocg goes, i'm not too into whatever the heck is the meta atm, but i have friends that are. i just like collecting whatever cards i like, even if i get my ass beat by said friends it's a fun game no matter what people might have to say.

This meta sucks honestly. It's basically about not letting the other person play

Bruh, your name was the definition of "Not letting the other person play". Current meta isn't too bad, sucks that banlist didn't hit Drytron (the only "no letting the other person play.dek") enough but that's about it.

All the other meta decks? Disruptive, aka interactive enough. Maybe you could complain about Normal Summon Aleister, but IDS doesn't top enough to be a problem.

Pendulum is a shit mechanic and deserves to remain in the cuck shed it is in forever.

That's how I'm usually like with CCG/TCG's. The game maybe terrible but it'll more than likely have good artwork. Only games I play now though are MtG and living card games. My wife tends to beat me in MtG with her Elf EDH deck but I tend to beat her in miniature games like Warhammer 40k.

I for one really enjoy Duel Links as someone who used to play competetively in the days before smart phones and then grew to hate the card game as a whole because of the competitive scene. For a long time I swore I’d never bother with things like Xyz or Pendulum summoning. I had convinced myself that I’d hate it. Duel Links has really changed my perspective however as a now casual fan of the game. Sure, there are plenty of meta issues but for someone who just wants to enjoy Yugioh again casually I think it’s great, a solid 7 out of 10 at least.

Same. What's your thoughts on that Yugioh Cross Duel thing that's coming out?

For me, it looks like the kind digital boardgame fun that I've been missing ever since Pokemon Duel shut down.

This is my first time hearing anything about it. I’ll look it up later maybe if I don’t hear about it through YouTube before then.

Have you seen the videos of that guy who’s making the Pokémon Go eske augmented reality stuff for Yugioh?

No actually. Got anything on that?

The current Duel Links meta is really boring.

Bring back the Invoker!meta where everyone was trying to think of more, and more creative, and degenerate ways to break the game using Aleister.

I got to play the beta for it when they were giving out invitations. Really wasn’t worth writing home about imo. The concept seemed cool at first, but the way they’re going to monetize it is already looking scummy.

Monster skills have to be unlocked by pulling duplicates from the gacha multiple times, and they’re game-changing effects, like Blue-Eyes being able to destroy a monster on its summon.

So? Is not like the new Skill or the SD does anything for them. You need 1 or 2 cards, but if they negate the effects of Core, the Skill is now dead. Having Cyberload, Overflow and Support System at 2 is iffy. And nova dies to cyber harpie lady.

Now... If we somehow get Infinity... That's more scary.
I was just pointing out funny it kinda is. They nerf it a bunch of times only to give it a new structure deck out of the blue.

It just seems a little odd.

I’ll say it - I like Yugioh, but Modern Yugioh is basically just competitive Solitaire for how much it’s centered around trying to let your opponent play the game as little as possible. When Trap cards - an entire third of the Main Deck cards - are all considered Too Slow unless they can be activated directly from the hand, that should’ve been a sign to Konami that they needed to pump the brakes a bit.

Unfortunately to do this they created Link Monsters, who instead did the exact opposite and poured gasoline on the problem and sped the game up. At this point I believe anyone who defends the state of the modern TCG is someone who’s spent far too much trying to copy whatever the current Meta deck is, and doesn’t want to admit that they’ve wasted that much money on what’s essentially a Children’s Card Game taken to peak autism.

Definitely. Effect negation and, to a lesser extent, card removal should not have been made as common as they are now. Nor should they have been given to some Archetypes.

Makes it tough for the casual decks to even get their foot off the ground when so much as breathing is met with you getting at least one card negated or forced off the field.

Of course, I say this as someone who likes playing Sylvans.
