Id say America No Peace Beyond the Line is a very fun RTS, it used the Age of Empires engine mostly, but overall was a very decent game.

My first western game was GUN. I played it on the original Xbox but never finished it. I will pick it up during a Steam sale though. Dark Watch is another western game I played. It's basically vampires in the wild west. It has a dark horror theme to it with some crazy enemies. It's a first person shooter. I had it for the original Xbox. Googled it and it's only on PS2 and Xbox.

I am just going to get the two big obvious ones out of the way.

Red Dead Redemption. I loved it and I finished back in 2018. It's one of my favorite games.

Red Dead Redemption 2. Like the first game I loved it. I finished in 2018 on an Xbox One S. I preordered the PC version in 2019. It had a rocky release, so I didn't play it much. I did a major upgrade to my PC just for that game.

Call of Juarez Bound in Blood
Call of Juarez Gunslinger
Outlaws (civvie11 did a video on it)
Hard West
Weird West
Red Dead Revolver (never played it)

I played a little of Call of Juarez Gunslinger. But the rest in the list I haven't played. I own a few of them as well.

That's all the western games I know of. It depends on what kind of experience you are looking for though. I would say GUN RDR and RDR2 provide the most realistic experience. RDR1 is more like a spaghetti western and RDR2 is more like those western movies that came out after the whole spaghetti western trend died down.

I saw someone mention Wild Arms. I wouldn't call it a western, but it definitely took inspiration from the wild west and various media portraying the time period. It's a really good RPG though.

I've been playing RDR2 again lately and it really makes me wish we got a PC port of the first game. I'll settle for a full remake, which I do feel is coming, but I wish I didn't have to dig out my 360 to play it.

Also the creepy stuff in RDR2 is so cool. I weep every day for the fact that we never got a fucking Undead Nightmare sequel. I will never forgive R* for that missed opportunity
You are in luck. We will be getting a RDR1 remake sometime this year.

I am excited for this because I really liked the first game. I have been waiting for a remake.

If you are a fan of the classic Half-Life series, you might want to try Gunman Chronicles.

It's a western-themed sci-fi shooter, with gunmen, aliens, dinosaurs and robots. Plus, you can personalize the settings of your weapons, which is cool. Oh, and you can also drive a tank!

Or if you prefer classic western shooters you can check out Wanted!, I never tried it, but looks great.

You can find those two mods on Moddb.

I feel like this year is unlikely, but signs do point towards a remake/remaster, so I'm hype.
I feel like this year is very likely. HYPE!

Also, we could get a remake of Undead Nightmare. That would be freaking sweet.

It's a Wild West game I forgot about. Undead Nightmare. I tried playing it but Rockstar screwed it up with a patch and won't fix it.

I'd love if Wild Arms made a serious, quality comeback. Something on the level of a Mass Effect or FF7R/FF15.

It was a Wild West themed JRPG series:

I played through it a few years ago on Xbox One backwards compatibility and I'd frequently run into a bug where the zombies would be missing textures and the whole game would basically break. I'd have to reload the game multiple times to fix it. I still managed to get through the game but it really speaks to how little care Rockstar has had with their games that they couldn't be bothered to fix it.

Several of the patches released for RDR2 made the experience objectively worse too. Hopefully the remake for RDR1 isn't just some slapdash spaghetti code Indian embarrassment like the GTA Trilogy, though I'm more banking on it basically just being remade in RDR2's engine, with its same mechanics. That'd get me excited.

I tried playing Undead Nightmare back in 2018 and I would get this problem where the zombies in certain game events would have no heads. I googled it and it's a bug caused by a patch Rockstar released a few years ago. They just never went back and fixed it. It makes these events hard to complete because you can stop the zombies. Restarting the system would fix it but makes it hard to deal with so I gave up.

They messed up RDR2 quite a bit with the patches. One of the patches even broke the camp dialogue involving your clothes and the temperature of the area the camp is in. Instead of fixing it they just removed it. A game that relies on immersion and they removed an immersive feature. Nice job Rockstar. There are other issues the patches cause as well. It seems like every time they release a patch to fix the game, they break something else. Like recently I was playing and find random dead and animals and horses laying around. You would be riding along and some dead animal would just drop down on the ground.

I have a feeling RDR1 will be a remake with the RDR2 engine. I don't see Rockstar doing a remaster of the original game because the game was a mess back then. It wasn't an easy development for the game. From what I have heard the problems came from Rockstars use of RAGE their own in-house engine and the use of Euphoria which is a physics engine. Most developers use an engine with physics already built into it, but Rockstar didn't do that with GTA4 or RDR1. They used two engines which made development difficult. Again. this is just what I have read from reading about it on various sources. That's also why the GTA4 PC port was pretty bad. That game used RAGE and made heavy use of Euphoria. I heard Rockstar India worked on the PC port of RDR2 and that game had a lot of issues on launch. They even tied some game mechanics to the frame rate like an older Japanese game. Like in the original PC port of Dark Souls if the game was running at 60 fps or more you would shoot up the ladder instead of climbing it. In RDR2 the weather was even tied to the frame rate from what I have heard. Your healt meter and staminal meter was tied to the frame rate so if it was running at higher than 60 it would drain faster than normal. I think a lot of that got fixed. But it was really poorly optimized. I hope Rockstar doesn't let the street shitters do their remake of GTA4 and RDR1.

he fell for the fake video game trailer...
There are a ton of retarded fake RDR1 remaster trailers out but signs do kind of point to there being SOMETHING in the pipeline as a follow-up. Like I said, I'm doubtful about this year especially, but with them essentially admitting defeat with RDO and having come out with the GTA remakes I feel like some kind of modern gen re-release of their other blockbuster game isn't out of the realm of possibility.

There is plenty of evidence pointing to a RDR1 remake. I don't think it will be a remaster. The world of RDR1 already exists in RDR2 they just need to make some minor changes. Though there are other things they can do to make RDR1 and RDR2 more connected and that would be nice. Imagine getting to visit Arthur's grave as Jack or possibly visiting John's grave as well. That would be a pretty cool thing. Rockstar could do a lot to make the RDR1 remaster special. I liked the RDR2 version of Uncle better.

RDO was never going to be as big as GTAO because you can't sell people flying jet powered motorcycles with lock on missiles in 1899. GTAO's appeal is all about trolling and griefing people. Basically, going around acting like a douche bag. The more money you spend the better you can kill and harass other players. RDO isn't that way and the people playing it don't want that. The RDR fans are not GTA or GTAO fans. They changed RDO and made it harder to grief in that game. That took away the reason to play for most of Rockstars fan base. Also, GTA fans usually don't like RDR and refer to it as GTA with horses. I like GTA but I like RDR a lot more. People usually play RDR for the story. There isn't much story in GTAO. While the story in GTA games is usually fun. It's not as good as the RDR stories.

I think a RDR1 remake was going to happen no matter how things went for RDO. RDO will never be GTAO.

There was this top down multiplayer game called Secret Ponchos, I do remember it having a rather cool artstyle but sadly it died really fast due to slow updates from the devs.

Frankly I'm sick of remakes and prequels. If Rockstar pulls another Red Dead game out I want an original story. Maybe have an encounter with the old gang at most.

And for them not to tell the same damn story of 'the death of the west' a third time.

I miss the games like this where you could spam the voice lines and everybody in the server would start doing it too.
The Source engine modding scene spawned countless legendary and memeworthy voice command spams. Just off the top of my head, I remember that in addition to Fistful of Frags, mods like Battlegrounds 2, Resistance & Liberation, WW1 Source, PVK II, Eternal Silence, Neotokyo, and Dystopia had some good voice command spammage.

We are clearly not paying tribute to the best western videogame of all time.

My friends and I quoted this piece of shit for years after we saw the Retsupurae of it.

Great gameplay and setting held back by a really predictable story and some woke cringe. Still an amazing western and my go-to when I just want to get lost on saddleback.
