I come back after not visiting the site for a while and see this new "sponsored post" field on the front page so if there was previous discussion that's why I missed it.

What the fuck is this corpo shit? Might as well start shilling products for a sponsor or putting ads on the site. Is null that broke or something? It's also being used to highlight peoples sub zero IQ takes by any other retard willing to fork out the money like those annoying reddit comment reactions.

This alongside reaction scores goes further to prove that this site is just reddit for people who think they're "fighting the man" for saying nigger online and "misgendering" trans people. Anyone who endorsed this or helped program it should never be allowed to complain about reddit ever again.

At least limit it to boards and not sponsoring random users comments on here.

I might be salty because the first fucking instance I saw of this was someones random armchair psychology comment on something but that might have been the minority as since I've mostly seen "check out this board/thread" posts which are much less obnoxious.

Admittedly this has gone better than I expected I. A lot of the stuff I've seen since has been people using it to link to threads, not retards paying money to boost each others comments like I saw the first time and feared the feature would be used for.

Edit: I was considering adding that it was news to that exact sort of people and that I was surprised I hadn't gotten any replies from them mad that I said "misgendering" but decided against it. Almost right after I get one mad I said "trans people" instead of tranny. Leaving this for anyone coming to read this thread from the feature as a "called it" and preemptive "this shit is retarded" towards any other such replies.

I'm a Kiwifarms dent so this is biased, but I've enjoyed some of them because they are usually people promoting a thread or post that they are willing to pay $5 a week for. I found the livestock thread and this thread through this. I've done some promoting with it myself and was happy so see some people come out of nowhere who were interested in the thing I promoted.

Sure I see lots of stuff I don't care about since I've yet to see anything actually annoying or manipulative I've done the thing that you're supposed to do on the Internet and ignore it.

Hell of a lot better than what Google Adsense would be putting there.

it's been up for a month already and it's not caused problems.

what we really need is a zero community engagement community space where basically I write all the posts and write all the code and host the servers and pay for everything and nobody pays me and then I feature everything manually and everyone just comes here to bow before the shrine i built by myself for myself for free as a gesture of good will towards the entire human race so that they may bask in my glory and my interests singularly.
