Partly demand, I think. Compared to other countries the US doesn't really push its students to academic excellence. Another point is that there are barely any good teachers. Teacher unions ensures that shit teachers get rewarded regardless of their performance.

Also stop sucking the cock of jap schools, they have some of the worst engrish curriculums I've seen from any country. They literally suck so bad their english literacy is some of lowest compared to other first world countries. You will never be Japanese, you filthy nigger gaijin.

Curriculum is only part of the problem. I felt like I had a pretty good curriculum in primary and secondary school and good teachers for the most part too. The main issue is everything around the curriculum, the bloated admins, the overly protected teachers, the gimped disciplinary methods, shit parents, kicking the can down the road for trouble students, etc. America is in need of a complete overhaul, but I don't think that Asia would be a good guide, as they have 3rd graders stressing about their midterms/finals and fucking up their chances at getting into a good middle school.
