Yeah, I think the outcome Chris "expects" is that he will have a sweetheart/fuckmommy by then and Barb will be irrelevant. He probably feels he's owed or destined that.
Chris used to expect (no scare quotes) it to happen. I think his confidence in that expectation has dropped dramatically in the past few years.
I don't think Chris even expects it anymore. Nowadays (and he's said things that suggest this), I think Chris realizes Barb will die and there's a big blank spot between when that happens and when/if he gets his sweetheart.
He's aware that blank spot might be a year or more long.
The way I see it is there is no plan for Chris after Barb dies, cuz Barb literally doesn't care. If there was a formal plan Chris would probably know about it. But see that's where things get interesting. It's also possible that Barb has made plans for Chris after her departure... but she hasn't told him about them, because she knows it's a solution Chris won't like (i.e. group home, moving in with a distant family member and having to sell 14 blc). In that case we wouldn't know any better than Chris does about his post-Barb future.
That said I would hedge my odds at 90% Barb has no plan for Chris and expects him to fend for himself, and like 10% Barb has a secret plan for Chris she's hiding from him, because he won't like it.
I think the chances of Barb having a secret backup plan, without us knowing about it, is essentially zero. I say that, not because Chris hasn't said "yeah, my mom totally has a plan", but because of all the details Chris leaks about her behavior and their lifestyle, that don't leave much wiggle room.
For example, if Barb was planning on stashing Chris with a relative when she dies, we'd have gotten hints about that, in that we'd hear about Barb talking or meeting with relatives to arrange that. The true reason for Aunt So-and-so visiting recently might go over Chris' head, but we'd still hear about the meeting itself.
Their financial situation is dogshit, and that cuts out a lot of options for Barb to plan things as well. And we know that based on Barb's multiple credit card lawsuits.
Although, all that aside: I did hear that Barb was talking to Chris about planning for after she's gone. Don't know what's going on there though. I think she might be trying to put some stuff in his name or lay out a will or some shit. (Of course, that'll all be useless because of all the debt she'll leave behind.)
But if Chris honestly wanted to move wouldn't he want a place thats just as big as 14branchland instead of a small apartment? I dont think he will ever be able to afford a new house the same size and I think thats what he would actually want.
Chris doesn't make use of 14BC's size. Barb's hoard does.
