Joking aside, no, chris isn't a narc. He is capable of displaying empathy, but often times displays it badly or just lets words fall out of his mouth. This isn't uncommon of people on the spectrum. If he was a legit Narc, he would've done far worse things. As it stands, he's just a delusional, but generally harmless autist. You want a real narc? Go to washington D.C. , any fucker with a political status is one of them.
 
Well, when Barb dies Chris will likely get her pension or whatever. He's probably gonna use the extra money to buy a few new lego sets and transformers.

Fun fact, a lot of homeless people have schizophrenia. Makes me wonder if he's going to be schizo.

I imagine he would have a very hard time being placed in a state funded group home. Do you think Barb and Bob left enough of a cushion that he would be able to sustain living where he is now? Do they own the house? I am sure he would let it go to shit in no time and end up in a group home eventually but it may bid him some time.

They did before Bob died, but Barb probably mortgaged it to the hilt again to buy hoard garbage to fill it from floor to ceiling.

Chris is an unemployed manbaby who used to start every single sentence with "I, Christian Weston Chandler...", so he's always been a narc, it just isn't as obvious anymore minus the occasional Facebook display of 'tism.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that the house is heavily mortgaged and that Barb is actually upside-down on her equity.

And a good portion of the nest egg that Bob left wound up in Rob Bell's pocket after the Game Place hit'n'run.

Chris is legally a full adult, with all the rights and responsibilities that come with it.

He can't be forced into a group home against his will.

Yeah, most of you seriously underestimate what it takes for an adult to lose their power of attorney or be committed against their will. They have to demonstrate a complete and utter inability to take care of themselves and/or represent a serious danger to themselves and others, and that's presuming the state is competent and funded enough to give a shit which in United States it generally isn't.

Chris can feed himself, clothe himself, abstract enough to find money to pay his bills and drive a car (poorly). That's all that matters. Not being financially or socially successful is not grounds for being made ward of the state. There are many people worse off than Chris who still live on their own.
 
As others have said, there's no way Chris is going into a group home.

Best case scenario for when Barb dies is that one of Chris's asspatters like Rocky (assuming the two are even still in contact) or someone in the Charlottesville LGBT commuity decides to help set up Chris in his own cheap apartment or trailer.

There's no way anyone is going to let Chris live with them, but I could see someone helping Chris get his own separate place in the event of a major emergency such as Barb's death. If Chris can pay the bills (and according to Marvin, he can), then it would be a step up from living in the hoard.

Either way, Barb's death will either make or break Chris and the ball is entirely in his court. He's going to be devastated, obviously. But if he can play his cards right, he can get a small and cheap little place of his own, away from the hoard. It would be tough and Chris would be living tugboat to tugboat, but it's probably the closest Chris will ever get to a happy ending in his life.
