I don't mean people influencing those beliefs or using them to interfere with his life. I mean generally, one guy believing something insane isn't a religion. It takes multiple people believing that same insane thing before you could classify it a religion. And even then, you get into cult vs. religion territory depending on intent/etc.

It's complicated. That's all I'm saying. But saying chris's beliefs are analogous to a religion is a bit much imo.

What Chris engages in might not be a religion (because he's the only member), but they are religious beliefs.

Marvin is totally correct here. I know several people (and know of several more) who reject formal church-based religions like Judaism, Islam and Christianity, yet are not atheist or agnostic. They call themselves 'spiritual' or something similar and tend to make a mashup of the parts they like best from wicca and paganism and classic religions from their ancestors (Odinists, Vodoun etc.) and good ol' Christian apocrypha.

They may not have formal religions what with each of em rolling their own, but they DO have religious beliefs.

Paganism and non mainstream religion is actually picking back up in some parts of the world. There's this big movement in Greece to have Hellenism (Greek Paganism) recognized as an official Greek religion alongside Christianity.

There's also growing Zoroastrian and Germanic religious groups in Iran and northern Europe.

I feel like Chris might do well in one of these groups because most of them are polytheistic and often add new gods to their pantheons if they like them. So maybe he would find someone willing to share in the light of Sonichu. be it out of actual interest or for a laugh.

But there's a key difference... Religions deal with the belief of god, the afterlife, spirituality, and try to explain how we as human beings got here, and how we should act in life.
Chris's delusions and examples of magical thinking tend to involve alternate realities (where fiction is real, and not in the way that people say "the bible is a book of history"), anthropomorphic versions of himself, imaginary friends and lovers, etc. It's less a religion, and more an imaginary friend play-session grown out of control.
There's a world of difference here.

Religions generally take root in a society after the upper classes embrace them for reinforcing social norms, whatever those happen to be. They provide a cohesive cosmology and tend to reiterate the place of people in it. The real difference as I see it between a religion and fantasy is that religions have at least a somewhat cohesive code of conduct, whereas fantasy and the like just exist for the pleasure of the creator. Chris' trademark solipsism means he'd never be able to come up with a work that has a meaningful message to anyone who isn't him.

Very well put. I couldn't agree more.

Even if one takes into account the many newer eclectic religions popping up, your new-age religions and neo-paganism offshoots, etc., those all tend to have their own cosmologies (or lack thereof), codes of conducts, and spiritual beliefs specific to those particular religions. Chris's beliefs have none of that, because that doesn't seem to be the goal in the first place...

I think you're looking for excuses to distinguish Chris' stupid beliefs because he's Chris, and not because of anything inherent in the beliefs themselves.

Like for example, you really don't know much about the details of Chris' beliefs. You haven't read his bible or anything like that. You're running off of rumors and then digging in deep to distinguish stupid hippie religions and Chris'.

Chris is fucking dumb and his stupid religion is dumb and it's damaging to his life. But not really in any distinguishable way from current legally sanctioned religions.

Chris is really dumb as you've said, writing his own Bible with the help of a well meaning troll could potentially be a gold mine, and it would be the first original content he's ever created. His beliefs and books of Sonichu would keep people entertained for years.

And I think you might be pulling punches specifically because it's Chris. I can assure you that I'd be saying the same thing if it were anyone else. I mean do you really think I wouldn't question someone's beliefs if they think fiction is real, that art writes worlds into reality, and when they believe they're in a relationship with their fucking OCs? This would sound like crazy talk if it came from anyone but Chris. But coming from Chris? I feel like we're used to it at this point.

His beliefs would be fucking ridiculous to me regardless of who thought them up. A religion is defined as "a cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world views, texts, sanctified places, prophesies, ethics, or organizations, that claims to relate humanity to supernatural, transcendental, or spiritual elements". From what I know of Chris's beliefs, they're in no way comparable to a religion. And if I don't know the full story, it's because no one is actually putting the full story out there. After all, we don't know the things that we don't know. You know?

Idk man. I'm not basing my opinions off rumors. I'm basing them off the things I literally see Chris do and say himself. I'm not one of those retards who thinks that the CWCki is the 100% true and honest account of Chris's life lol. But I can only draw conclusions from what I see. If my conclusions are incorrect because of things that I don't know? I can't really help that.

I know it's a complicated topic, but I just don't see it. This feels like autistic delusions. We can't just go around declaring delusions as religions willy-nilly. There's a rhyme and reason to things. But maybe I'm wrong. I'd love to hear about this "bible" more...

A month ago when chris told kengle to "shut up and donate to my patreon", it looked like kengle was gonna stand up for himself. Then he crawled back and chris bitch slapped him. And now kengle has been taking it up the ass ever since. What is this guy's deal? What is he trying to get out of chris?

Maybe Kengle thinks (or wants people to think) that he's that one genuine friend that CWC has - who sticks by him through thick and thin; despiite the fact he just looks like a doormat, in the process.

Way optimistic/dumb of me to think that way, I know - but why else would someone fork over so much money to someone who clearly doesn't appreciate it?
