She still insists that I have the power to choose the outcome, and that everything that happens will be on me, even though I wanted to try and work it out either way. She also told me that she would only refer to me as a parent to our kids, neither dad nor mom, because I won't be a man any more and I haven't 'earned' being called mom, which hurt and might have activated womb envy. I'm still a little hurt and stressed about the whole situation with her, but...

I found a clinic covered by my insurance for HRT and they had openings today for me to go in for a first consult! I don't know what will come of it today, but I'm excited to even just get info at this juncture.

Physically I'm built about the same, maybe a smidge taller, but about the same weight (after a lot of work to get there). My situation is super similar.

1. Gender? Now that I'm exploring I realize that I was never attached to being a boy, but that's what I was told I had to be, and lived in a place where to be other wise would be dangerous. But I also know that starting by at least like 11 or 12 I deeply desired to be a girl.
2. Porn. Yep. For many years. I wanted to be the girl. Or in more cases it was feminized porn, and I fantasized about that happening to me. Also dreams, for most adolescence and into my life now, the vast majority of dreams that I remember I am a woman, which I know could be take it or leave it, but I believe in dreams.
3. Family. If I transition I'll lose my wife and kids. I don't know if my other family will support the idea, besides my sister, so it's a gamble.

Ultimately my decision is that I don plan to move forward, hoping that the reward of not hating the person in the mirror for the rest of my life is worth the pain.

It's not worth it in the year of our lord 2025. Everyone who was in those scenes are now in their mid 30s at the youngest.
