I finally watched the leak, and i have the same problems as many others here, so i won't elaborate on those (like Jax ACKstracting off-screen, the cast happily accepting their fates as brain scans stuck forever, Queenie and Jax being kept as pets while the other abstractions are eating shit in the cellar forgotten, etc.), but i was thinking: isn't that awfully convenient that everyone's real lives turned out to be perfect? Imagine the Instagram doomscrolling scene, where Caine is like:

Pomni stepped into a rusty nail while exploring some another abandoned building, she didn't call emergency services because she was trespassing, contracted lockjaw, and now is on her deathbed.

Zooble had to close the gay bar after a monkeypox outbreak, she is in crippling debt, and works 3 jobs to barely make ends meet.

Gangle never recovered after the truck accident, she's permanently paralyzed from the neck down, and she became extremely bitter and depressed about it.

Ragatha turned to alcohol and drugs as an escape from her abusive mom. She is homeless, and every penny she gets from sucking dicks behind an Arby's dumpster goes straight towards her next fix.

Kinger got replaced by pajeets, every other IT jobs in his field are also filled with them, so he's now a Walmart greeter.

Turns out Jax's mom really didn't get up, he got conviced of manslaughter, and he is now the dedicated prison bitch.

(No backstories for the other abstracted characters because Goose didn't bother either, lmao get fucked you abstracted bishes)

Edit: fixed typos, and made Ragatha's fate even worse while i'm at it.

I actually remember some of the other guys in this thread joking that Zooble irl would become a Covid Truther after the p(((l)))andemic forces them to close their bar down, and ends up going to prison for going to the Jan 6 "riot" and taking a shit on a picture of Obama

"Zooble slowly turning into a chudette from a gay bar owner, after seeing how the government ruins small businesses under the guise of COVID, while letting gigacorpos operate uninterrupted" is a more interesting story premise than the entirety of TADC in my opinion.

But like, that is transparently bullshit, right? That's the kind of cheap nonconvincing excuse you provide to hide the real reason. But the real reason never comes.

Besides, why does Caine not care when people abstract? If his whole purpose is entertaining people, why does he treat them all as expendable? Why does he care after he comes back? It doesn't really make sense
Caine operates under a different morality since he is AI.

He just wants to do his job and that's it, the recent abstractions weren't even due to the Circus but Jax.

As for caring after getting deleted?
He himself said that letting programs run too long causes issues and hearing the groups True & Honest feelings about him made him change his approach.

Kinda funny that the annoying asf english va's 'big movie moment' got ruined by so many people seeing the Portuguese version first therefore validating the brazillian va's as the actual ones who got premiered. Cried in the recording boot for nothing, people listened to the brazillian Jax abstract instead.

This is why I don't watch any shows as they're coming out. I wait for the ending and then maybe a few years later after the conversation has died,
I had to explain this to some friends of mine how I didn't feel the need to look at something or plsy that many games right now with some exceptions and those are very few. I might watch a few episodes but not full seasons until the thing is finished because usually by then if I have questions I can get a better answer when people aren't in entertainment fomo.

The brain scan thing should've been obvious but I was hoping they wouldn't go that route. "The characters aren't real" is the easy way out
Undertale and Deltarune (to a lesser extent, haven't played since 2018 ) have the same issue. I remember during the Flowey boss he starts spouting some crap about "it's alla game, chud human, we're all just pixels on a screen!" and I couldn't help but zone out, because prior to that point the game had only done 4th-wall breaks as throwaway jokes (if they're are even any in the first run) It just feels Toby lost steam where he otherwise did pretty well in mixing existentialism with video game concepts

If none of its real in the world it inhabits, why should I care?

The thing is in Undertale with flowey referencing game mechanics it's to show how he's become a nihilistic asshole after managing to figure out how he can time travel via killing himself. it's implied things continue on after the "game" inside the world without them being in a stagnant loop or trapped. He's meant to be a soulless abomination both spiritually and literally. The other characters do the occasional 90s-2000s nintendo thing of alluding to the fact your playing a video game in the "beings watching us" kinda way.

That and Jax's entire fucking character arc was him having to put up with that everyone was real and episode 2 explicitly squashes the brain scan NPC shit from ever making sense unless you don't watch that and like every other episode

Yeah, I knew about that particular plot point, but I mean it just kinda felt too 4th wall breaking for me after, like you said, a game of more laid back jokes. I'm not even opposed to things like the game crashing or Flowey saving over your save and using save states, I just wish that was more "show, don't tell" than what it is ingame (or at least what I remember)
