no one is crazy enough to code NPCs in sourcemod or vscript and it would suck because server plugins have no clientside interpolation and such stuff would lag and jitter a lot
pretty advanced nextbot-based npcs were made before, prior to vscript
the mann versus zombies mode was also created in tf2 itself with vscript before being remade as a standalone mod after the whole tf2 mod thing started, and it wasnt laggy or jittery in multiplayer
things are a lot more manageable as a standalone mod, but vscripting it is far from awful

Janny locked the verification discussion thread in Pre Fortress 2's Steam forums, but not before making a response making it sound like players would blame the mod instead of the server, similar rhetoric TF2 Classified developers and others use.
 
Another TF2 Classic/Classified remake mod hits the Internet, this time it's Alphablaster/AgitationSkeleton/Vio/VioLink posting Deathmatch Reclassified. Yet another deathmatch gamemode mod, this one copying the early TF2C beta versions of deathmatch and adding it to Classified as VScript. Based off the credits, this is largely composed of assets by people that split off to make Open Fortress. Some of the credited are also from the presplit TF2C and TDC groups as well.



This specific version of this gamemode is well over a decade ago and anyone old enough that remembers it is out of TF2 as a whole or not playing TF2C. The community that was alive to remember it was pushed out and thrown away by the developers. What's the point of constantly trying to bring this gamemode back when it's been cut and split at least three different ways now with Open Fortress, Team Deathmatch Classic, and Classic Prime? Now we get yet another "Team Fortress 2 but it has Quake-like Deathmatch" mod to add to the pile except it's now a community addon for the dumpster fire of TF2 mods that is Classified, the very mod that all these other mods split off from? Vio's Server (formerly Redchanit) is one of the few verified servers hosting with Classified, so it makes me wonder what behind the scenes drama is unfolding or level of desperation happening to come crawling back to the exact gamemode on the exact mod that caused years of fractures in the community.
 
At the rate things are going, every Team Fortress 2 player is going to get their own version of TF2.
you know, i'm still impressed that just making a Q3-but-in-TF2's-artstyle mod is such an alien concept in itself, and i'm still incredibly mad that OF turned out to be fat, gay and lame
i just want to play Q3 without having to install it, it's so fucking aids

Why can't this tranny just focus on one name and stick to it? And what even is this? A whole new mod for the store? Or just some map pack for TF2C? Actually it doesn't really matter what the answer is, there's already those three aforementioned other mods (and probably a couple more you didn't name) that are all doing the tf2c deathmatch thing. Why can't anyone do anything original?
 
This is why TF2 Classified can't die fast enough. Classified/Classic is probably the biggest and most recognizable TF2 mod ever. If its official release on Steam is just totally dead, maybe it'll finally discourage mod makers from making the same shit over and over again. Maybe we'll get a mod that isn't just "What if TF2 but its Beta content!" for the hundredth time.

Autists view they world as an RPG where if their stats are good enough, they can get you to do whatever the fuck they want like talking Legate Lanius down in F:NV if your speech is 100.

Does Classified even have any sort of playerbase that's not comprised of VaultF4 lunatics? I still think TF2 mods are ultimately a waste of time when you can just have the real thing, but I also think it would be better if some of them stayed around. You don't get to see these people build their own containment chambers very often.

Yes, and they're all playing custom weapon servers. I am not exaggerating, the custom weapon servers are pretty much the majority at this point and the regular base game is pretty much exclusive to VaultF4 servers. These servers are pretty much all terrible.
Speaking of VaultF4, their ban page proudly lists ~5.4k bans. It is quite unclear what is the exact timeline for these bans but in 2022 (earliest archive.org snapshot I could find) they were hovering around ~2.8k. This seems like a lot for a mod that used to hover around 200-300 active daily players before being published on Steam. There was also some rumor that they had to mass unban people at some point because they ran out players but I haven't managed to find any details about that so far.
 
Huh, apparently I missed this over the weekend. TF2C got an update related to mapbase having a giant "security vulnerability". I wonder what that's all about.

Very long read, tl;dr it was a vulnerability with Mapbase (and by extension every mod that uses Mapbase) and its implementation of clientside vscript which shouldn't be a thing, but some retard on Mapbase thought it was a good thing.
 
Had a game just an hour ago. One of the people on our team was named FurryFemboy(followed by some numbers I don't remember). Thankfully some other players called the faggot out, only for us to discover the player was 14 years old... :stress: WTF is going on with the kids?

I've noticed that a lot of players with pedophilic names like that are actually kids and not 30 year old trannies. I've read a theory that it's the current approved way for them to be edgy, equivalent to us saying the nigger word back then.
