Has anyone tried any of the pokemon tabletop games? I want to try one, but there’s a bunch of them, and idk which one I would want to GM (and there’s apparently some drama over Pokemon Tabletop United splitting from Pokemon Tabletop Adventures, for anyone interested).

You got experience for doing the shit the class was supposed to do from what I remember actually. Thieves got money from gold, Fighters got it from murder, Wizards from casting or some mystical things. I think you got EXP still from other methods, but you got more for doing what your class do.
Are you sure? I’m almost positive xp-for-gold existed before the thief class did.

Not Pokemon but I have taken part in a homebrew Digimon TTRPG (in fact it was the one that crashed and made me not want to RP for a while) which at the start was extremely fun. The system itself was quite intricate and I've actually managed to salvage the "manual" and polish it a bit.

People play those games? I know my knowledge is out of date (and I don't know the first thing about Pokemon, I was already too old when it came out), but last time I checked most Pokemon RPG projects I saw turned the setting just a step away from full grimdark and gory because the spergs writing wanted to make it "realistic".

Unsure about the PTU-PTA split drama, that must have been well over 6 years since when my I used it the games had already been separated.
My group used the system, it was a bit clunky and combats would take forever. Personally loved the fantasy supplement they made, which pretty much told you how to retype/refluff pokemon like porygon or cofragigus to better fit a certain setting, essentially regional forms before regional forms were a thing. I can't tell you much more about it since it's been so long since I last played.
As for other pokemon systems I can't even remember the names, all I remember is one of them had messed up hp formulas and pokemon like Onix would be ridicolous due to it.

"all 16 writes are black and brown"
Well, as CURRENT YEAR has told me, Black and Brown people are too simple & subhuman to be able to appreciate any media that doesn't star people with melanine and are too dumb to really anything that isn't written by another duskie. Women are also too flighty and easily distracted to appreciate anything that isn't written by either a woman or man in a dress who fucking up his body by injecting chemicals.

So in solidarity with these oppressed minorities, I can't buy anything that isn't written by white males.
I found out what some of the adventures this game comes from will be like...

Decries eurocentric fantasy; uses the western eurocentric concept of "reality TV" to avoid writing about blood feuds, which transcends region and would actually be interesting.

Okay you dumb hack only in it to suckle on Mercer to get clout for Hollyweird due to believing that parasitizing is the only way to get ahead. That's not how it works, but honesty is poison with you lot.

Man, it's a bad sign when this shit makes Critical Role look amazing by comparison.

CR has its flaws but holy fuck at least they were fighting bad guys and trying to save the world from Vecna.

By Allah, I have witnessed cases of cancer caused directly by social media posts.

In this case my own steadily-growing brain tumor...

It ain't Vecna until someone decides to gain ultimate power by using the Head of Vecna.

It is funny how these people decry eurocentrism but it is because of them that things like Al'qadim couldn't be rereleased today.
I seriously don't get it, they want non european settings yet will screech at anyone who dares to write about other cultures? Weren't we supposed to appreciate other cultures or are we meant to do that from a distance and not interact with them at all?
What we are left with are white dudes LARPING as latinos or indians (which you could consider a form of appropiation, the irony) releasing shitty indie freeform games, which have very superficial themes vaguely related to those cultures.
Excuse my autism, I will now go read AD&D setting books to calm myself.

you see, the evil white man has been keeping this cultures down, if we wouldn't appropriate them the whole time natives of that "culture" (whatever the fuck that even means) would be able to speak for themselves and publish their own stories which would be completely new and different to anything else!
it's basically like believing an economy would work without supply and demand or that africa would be a successful continent and wakanda in 5 years if all white people would just leave.

Ya'll niggas thought I was joking about cinematic rules coming for 6e didn't you.
implying there will ever be a 6e (as some anon predicted, wotc will drop the edition moniker and it will just be "dnd" in the future where you're supposed to buy "rule expansions" every year replacing the old ones and an "updated" phb/dmg every once in a while). dndtards always go with "there's no other edition than current edition" anyway and normies don't even know there are different editions. also conveniently ignores all the issues they had in the past where a new edition pissed old/new/both playerbases off.

Oh, they will release a new edition alright. New editions are just a license to print more money as you are now forced to buy all new books. Simply releasing "rule expansions" won't work since most normies don't buy books outside of core.

All real OG D&D players are still playing 3.5 or Pathfinder 1e anyway.

I've been running PTA on and off for about 11 years now. I'm currently running PTA 2 (the one that only goes up to Gen 7) for some buddies because I don't like the changes done in the current version. Its kind of a clunky mess but between an automated excel sheet I have for characters and a website that makes generating encounters a breeze we make do.

The PTA/U drama is almost a decade old at this point and most of the players aren't even around in the community any more. Dr Mr Stark, the PTA side of the drama, is still around and its become increasingly clear why it all happened. He does not like change or being told no.

White people are not allowed to write about other cultures. It's too much work and too expensive to translate what other people wrote about themselves (and it's still kind of icky to let white people do the translations unless it's to fix Japanese being cringe). Therefore, the only people who are allowed to write about other cultures are third generation immigrants who never left the country. But they also have to come from at least upper middle class families that can support them while they work for a pittance.

All real OG D&D players are dead or dying out.

Some minor 6e leaks:
In 6E the role of Dungeon Master will be broken down into separate components enabling multiple people to engage in non-player activities. There will be a Dungeon Project Manager (DPM), a Dungeon Technician (DT), and a Dungeon Operations Executive (DOE).

The DPM is responsible for sourcing all assets, enemies, dungeons and setting materials for each session. These responsibilities will be carried out across a variety of digital and physical media, so a focus on game knowledge is crucial for this role. Whether the DPM creates any of these assets themself is entirely up to their discretion. With a divided DM workload, such a task has never been easier. However, given the massive amount of pre-constructed assets available for free (or for purchase), it may not even be necessary.

The DT is a simpler, foot-in-the-door sort of role for Dungeon Leadership. As DT, your primary responsibility will be to playtest and organize. Ensuring sessions occur regularly and on schedule without ruffling too many feathers is a delicate matter. Playtesting each session in mockups with the Player's character sheets will ensure the DPM has done their job appropriately. Key insights from this phase of Dungeon Production should determine the following: Did each Player Character get a Moment to Shine (MtS)? Did the skill checks/challenges provide an appropriate balance of tension and success? Will each player have roughly the same amount of speaking time over the course of the session? Lastly, were the rewards satisfying without causing balance issues? Compile notes and refer back to the DPM with any urgent issues or Dungeon Change Requests.

The DOE is sort of like the DM of olde, but without all that tedious prep and design work. Here you can focus on being a performer. Master of a thousand characters, both big and small. Instead of worrying about the intricacies of yet another dungeon crawl, dedicate that time to voice work and immersive characters to really make the session come alive. Immersion is your focus, and snacks are your secretary. If the DPM and DT have done their work correctly there will be few if any curve balls thrown your way. Instead of leaving a session up to the dice, you can finally invest yourself in the games plot without fear of abrupt changes.

You need to up the satire, this is too close to what they actually believe.
