The fuck is it with melee spergs anyways? Is it just obsession to one specific game due to nostalgia, or am I just not autistic enough to see the hidden tapestry of mathematic perfection behind the same four characters beating each other up on a boring flat plane?
It’s fun and there isn’t really any other game like it. The other Smash games feel almost completely different. The original is actually closer to it than the later ones in mechanics.

So yeah, it’s obsession to one game, but not because of nostalgia, but rather because of the gameplay.

Fans of the current game is actually mainly driven by nostalgia (and simping) for the characters because the gameplay is not very good.

Every smash game is exactly the same you Godless retard.
Thanks. I didn’t know this. Since they’re all exactly the same, I guess I’ll never need to buy any later Smash game, as I’ve owned Melee since it came out in 2001.*

*I actually did buy Brawl, but I haven’t played it in years ;p

I think what he meant to say was that every smash game plays the same at it's base. The only thing that makes Melee special is that fact it's a buggy mess.

By buggy mess are you referring to wavedashing? Two of the ‘viable’ characters (Jigglypuff and Peach) don’t need it. There are a lot of other elements that distinguish it from the other games which were all intentional design decisions. I can’t think of any other bugs the game relies on, outside of some questionable hitboxes and priority which is present in virtually all fighting games.

Some non-bug mechanics that the current Smash game lacks:
L-cancelling (unique, though a similar mechanic existed in SSB)
Overall speed is the fastest of the whole series
‘Weight’ differences are the most closed-in
Soft shields and power shields (unique)
Ledge recovery is ‘realistic’ as opposed to ‘magnetic’ (SSB, Melee, Brawl only)
Meteor canceling (Melee and Brawl only, though Brawl’s is gimped)
Edge guarding (SSB, Melee, Brawl?)
Unique DI (every game has its own DI rules except Smash 4 and Ultimate which are the same)
True combos (SSB and Melee only)
Moonwalking (Unique, bug?)
Jump-cancel grabs (Unique)

I probably missed some but this is what I could remember. Also keep in mind, while wavedashing is a bug, it was discovered before release and intentionally left in.

Now, you might say ‘Well why does any of that matter it’s just a game bro?’ and I would say that even if it doesn’t matter, why berate me for playing and learning about a game that I already own? The new games cost money, and if I genuinely feel like the old game plays just as well or better and choose to keep playing the old one, is that so bad?

Saying ‘I’m not autistic enough to see the difference,’ doesn’t mean there is no difference. IMO, just playing Ultimate and Melee side-by-side is enough to see a difference, even by the most casual observer.

This isn’t something unique to gaming anyway. SMB3 and SMW are generally considered to be the best of the 2D Marios, despite being from 1988 and 1990 respectively. OMG it’s 2021, why don’t these Mario-spergs UPDOOOT!

So let’s get back to making fun of Melee-spergs for caring more about controller temperature than just practicing and getting better at the game, instead of autistically screeching ‘OMG MELEE IS OLD UPDOOOT ALREADY’ anytime it comes up.

You are right, but you won't find anyone agreeing with you here. I have already been exiled from this thread once for being right about melee, they don't want to hear it, they just call you retarded. There is a Melee specific thread here if you want to actually talk about it, but this isn't the place. Also don't take @Nauseated Courgi 's bait. Dude is a retard who says nothing at all, all day in this thread.

Wavedashing and L Cancelling are not bugs and were 100% intentional.

:agree: To this in specific.

It's weird how people assume this is a thread for shitting on SSB, when it's a thread for shitting on the retards that play the game.

You were "exiled" because you were defending Melee to an autistic degree. Even going so far as to make a separate thread for the game itself.

Then have his own spergout there and pretty much guarantee that thread's death, aside from the fact there's nothing interesting to discuss about the game other than whatever pedophile gets exposed, and that's what this thread is for anyways

Your soft-handed sarcasm does nothing to hide your power level son, and if you're getting this heated over my dismissal of the series being the cod of fighters party games, you are in for one miserable life. Smash is hot garbage regardless of which iteration one happens to play, and larger rosters mean nothing when the game is the same king-of-the-hill crap its been since 1999. I didn't expect anything from someone whose handle is taken from soywars, and you've still disappointed me.

There really is something about melee that draws in the autists (and child molesters) like flies to shit, and considering how little the gamecube sold at retail it cannot just be pure nintendofag nostalgia. This is akin someone being a die-hard turbosperg over sf2's Champion Edition with an obscene dismissal of the later upgrades.

I agree. SSB and Melee are the only versions of the game I enjoy playing, and they're far from being my favorite games. They're not even my favorite fighting games (that would be the SFIII series).

That wasn't sarcasm by the way. I never intend on ever buying a new Smash game again, unless something as good as Melee is actually released (which will be never). I bought Brawl because I was young and stupid and naively thought it would be an improvement of Melee.

Ok but honestly, who cares about smash bros being samey? This same complaint can apply to traditional fighting games, but who cares, trying to come up with a new original gameplay concept let alone one for a fighting game is honestly not possible.

Regardless what soywars has said, "every smash bros game being the same" isn't really a fair complaint when it's inevitable that every video game has copied from each other in some way. And even then, the whole selling point of smash bros is that it's already different from traditional fighters? If there is not much else that can be done to change up the gameplay of smash bros, why fix something that isn't broken?

Exactly. The main appeal of smash bros, aside from the gameplay, is the characters. Being able to play as all these characters from different game series and mastering them is where the fun of the game comes from.

No hard feelings however, at the end of the day. It's fine to dislike the game, and I can understand the disdain for it right now considering the whole pedo problem. Just wish it wasn't true. The community would still be full of stinky weirdos, but at least the community would be stinky weirdo's who weren't pedos.

Wrong, this thread is just as much for discussing the freaks obsessed with this cartoon crossover, hence it being in the community section in the first place. Not all smash fans may molest little kids, but all of them are freaks regardless and you cannot open a random page on smashboards without tripping over several.

Because it's one of several ways to ridicule retards, obviously, and its a valid statement that shines a bad light on sakurai. Incidentally, the Kirby series got better after he quit HAL.

Tell me how Halo takes anything from Megaman X3.

Firstly that's an unnecessary question mark at the end of the sentence, which states that you're unsure of your own opinion lmao. As for not changing anything, smash fans are just as retarded as pokemon fanatics and will happily cumsoom shit so long as it has daddy sakurai's name on it so there is no business incentive to put any effort in to the product. Of course it can be argued that fans of any long running series are like this but that is a fallacy: Metroid fans were loud as hell about their disgust over Other M and Federation Force, Yuji Horii changed the formula for Dragon Quest Monsters: Caravan Heart and the game bombed, and Castlevania fans infamously sperged out over the art style being changed for the first two DS games.

Thinking about it, there is a real appropriateness in that soywars picked the handle that he did since being a fan of smash requires the same amount of smooth sulci that it takes to be a fan of star wars.

The spergs and freaks don't make up the entirety of the playerbase. They're loud, but that's about it.

This is the internet. The only time you should be considered about Grammer errors that small is if you're reviewing essays.
