and remove incentives for adults to compete (Low prize pool keeping it in kid range for the most part).
Am I the only that thinks 10k over a 12 month period is fine? That’s absolutely enough to cover several tournaments a year with 1k for the top 3 for each event. Which should not only cover travel and board but also give you a nice cash prize. And that’s just one event.
1 evrnt 3 times at 1k for the top 3 plus leftover
And there will be other people putting on events. So if they keep going to events throughout the year they’ll rack up money
That is to say nothing of online events where the cost to the player is nothing so the prizes can be way bigger
4k for a dude organising a discord call seems nice.
…hell i had not even seen the bit where for IRL they can charge in person spectators. Organisers make bank.
That’s to say nothing of online events that will have donos involved.
Or the fact that most players make money off streaming the game.
They really have no reason to bitch if they are good.
Forcing that "Nintendo is not affiliated with this tournament" banner for ALL tournaments and advertising is the cherry on top.
My favorite is limmiting the size of events. Everyone’s mad at that and I’m just like ‘it’s the one move that was done not to punish shit adults what is your problem?’ Tournaments with 100s of people are an absolute nightmare to control. Greatly capping the number of people just makes it way more managable. They are actually trying to help deal with the issues everyone alwsys says there are by their being to many people.
who recently have been absolutely relentlessly bullying children who play a character they don't like on twitter...
You just know the Nintendo people that get the job of social media are just happily going about their day until they are asked to check on Smash. And then the swearing that results can be heard all throughout the office.
