Possibly the most retarded journo I've ever seen

He plays through the game without realizing that Nabbit is baby easy mode.
The comments are great.

Imagine white knighting over games journo pussy. "C'mon, fellow men, are we really expecting women to be able to read, now?"

Nintendo doesn't like Wart for whatever reason. In fact the only time he's made a recent appearance was in a Zelda game of all things.
They don't like any 2nd tier bad guys except Wario, who luckily avoided the fate Wart, Tatanga, Vaati, etc all share. They just recycle Bowser and Ganon in increasingly shitty forms (Calamity Ganon is awful and why the fuck is Bowser an airship?!).

Looks like all other New Super Mario Bros Games. Bowser + Bowser Jr. Are the only bosses? They should have done a 3D sequal to Mario Bros 2 from the 80s.
The team that does mario is absolutely shit with bosses. The boss fights are stale as fuck even before they get reused to hell and the worst part of the game for me.

And I don't care what anyone says, the final boss fight was garbage and yet another reuse of a trope that Nintendo cannot stop jacking off over.

Digital Foundry did a side by side comparison between Wonder NSMBU. They showed that Mario's momentum has changed allowing movement to become more precise again, while the speed and jump height hasn't changed much if at all. The result is a less floaty feeling. Segment starts at 3:25.

It's the weird slide I was referring to from 64. It strips Mario of his precision in the jumps.
This video was fairly accurate until the dude said, "Martinet is gone, but Mario still sounds the same!!!" Lol no. Afghani sounds like a YouTuber doing Mario impersonations.

This game has the best final boss fight out of all the 2D Mario games. I think the musical levels had awkward timing, especially when compared to other platformers that have done this gimmick.
Apparently you're supposed to collect all the flower levels, yet the game doesn't list them in the level pop-up along with the Wonder seeds. That's kinda dumb.

Can't wait to see what Nintendo is going to make next. I hope they haven't settled with Afgani permanently because that would suck.

Switching to Japanese might actually be better than muting the soy flower. Thank you.
My ear has gotten too used to Japanese to just hear it as "funny noises", went with Traditional Chinese like another kiwi suggested and now flowers went from the gayest and creepiest thing in the fucking world where I expect them to give directions to kids to an unmarked van to unintrusive little extras.

The comments are great.

Aside from a my sides rating, we also need a fedora.

Now that the game works well on Yuzu I've started with it on the Deck and outside of some stuttering here and there works like a charm (though you need to have Power Tools and disable... the multiple cores thing? Don't remember the setting, but it's one of the top ones where if you disable it you go from 8 to 4 max). I don't give much of a crap about the voices, playing as Luigi and Daisy for the most part and it's alright. Levels themselves are simple as pie though I am enjoying them and the wonder moment is always the highlight (got a big grin when the buffalo thing stampede just nuked the banner and house and opened another one later). Not something I'll be blasting through either but it is a lovely palette cleanser for sure. Not surprised bing bing wahoo factory is top of the game right now, turns out fun games engage people.

The elephant I'm still oh hum on, I want to run forward slapping shit with muh trunk but fuck the timing and get hit. I feel like I lack precision when flailing it around.

So finished the game with 100%. Game is very verrrry easy when played in online mode. I'm going to re-attempt completing it in offline mode and will give my thoughts on it after. The unskippable dialogue really breaks the flow of the game, really gives me pikmin 4 flashbacks but at least the gameplay in that game was so good that I went through unskippable cutscenes and dialogue 8 times despite that shit.

Ok I'm on apparently the last screen of the last level, forced invisibility and have to bounce on this purple elephant balloon and it's making me fucking crazy. This after a level that already has loads of bullshit where I died literally like 100 times when I basically never died in the rest of the game. Getting to the purple elephant balloon is now much easier of course. Not sure how to make it past though.

Didn't bother buying this because Nintendo can suck my dick but did watch DSP play through it and had a weirdly good time.

Ok guys I managed to bop along those floating balloons and beat the final level. Had to do it a couple more times to get the flagpole. Finally accomplished it only by switching to Yoshi for the first & only time. I thought there was a better ending cutscene after that? Guess not. Final badge is barely a step up from Hestu's golden poopsie.

People saying this is better than NSMBU are tripping on Wonder Seeds. That game had way more levels, secret exits, better pacing/challenge and boss battles. Plus the remixed Luigi game, time attack modes, etc. Wonder offered plenty of spectacle but at significant tradeoff, and while the animations and design have improved it's really not that different. Not sure why there was such a collective sigh of relief that it wasn't a "New" game when it still basically is. The new voice actor didn't bug me as much by the end but he's always going to sound fake to me. Remember when companies hired actual actors to do voices, instead of "voice actors?" Charles Martinet remembers.

My neck is sore from nodding in agreement.

Game is too easy, mario sounds like mickey, pretty much another new super Mario bros game.

Visually it is really good. I didn't really see the backgrounds until I saw someone else play it but that's the main strength of the game. The problem is I have no motivation to play them again. I really wish the final challenge made the game harder or had a new game minus.

I'm missing two Special World entrances and I can't do the final Special stage without them. I've looked in every corner of the map and I've come up with nothing.

This game is the biggest example of mass hysteria in gaming that I know. I'm glad the Mario formula is idiot proof so the game is still enjoyable but it's the weakest 2D entry in the series by a considerable margin.

The levels are too short and easy, but what truly irks me is the abundance of stupid filler like those 5 second Mario Maker levels scattered across the map, what's the point of these things? The insignia system is useless because the Hat is the only skill you will use. The exploration is shallow, all the purple coins are in your face and the game barely has any secret endings. Two secret (if you can even call that shit a secret) endings in the game are "unlocked" after you beat the level a second time. That's it, no investigation, no mystery, just finish the level again in the exact same way. insulting.
