So lucifirius will be banned soon, RIP.
He'll get a +30 too, to "make sure it sticks" unless Lowtax does the banning.

Lowtax never seems to bother probating people that he bans, while the admins obsess over penalizing the wrongthinkers as much as their tools allow. Hell, post a non-leftist opinion in D&D and you'll forever be on the purge list, every time it happens.

Lucifirius still not banned. Not sure how much I'll keep paying attention since I get annoyed by dumb commies easily.

Holy false equivalence Batman.
Because getting a college education or starting a business is exactly the same as building your entire livelihood on one shitty game whose longevity people doubted from the start. It's not like the former has transferable skills or anything.

I like the post where one of them says “capitalism sucks”

Capitalism *doesnt* suck, capitalism is what allows me, someone who works for a living, to buy as many comupter games as i want, a couple of cars, a house etc without having to moan about how unfair life is because things cost money, and people wont give me money for being a fucking useless spastic that sits on the internet all day moaning about how I dont have anything.

Capitalism also allows things to progress or be created. Without money as a driving force to motivate, you get stagnation. Where is the ambition when all you can do is what you need to survive, whether through the food you need or to appease the government which owns you?

Of course, I'm surprised nobody here has pointed out the poignant irony that they're complaining about capitalism on a forum they had to pay to use. You know. A forum. A service revolving around community cooperation which is, save for this sole exception, generally free and without transaction.

Late stage capitalism is the only thing keeping them from working in a copper mine in Montana and fuckin LOL at the idea that video games would be funded under socialism. I'm going to guess their priorities will change from "this video game isn't intersectionally woke enough" to "I better get up at 4 AM tomorrow morning if I want to get a loaf of bread"

They're objectively correct. Capitalism is responsible for everything wrong with the video game industry, because capitalism is the only reason the video game industry even exists.

The videogame industry is so fucked because software companies get away with delivering a really low quality product which is all marketing and no substance. There's no real incentive for the developers to do better. Hmm, it's almost like if you give people no incentive to improve and do well, they turn into lazy bums and parasites.....

"Completely random, but I hadn't checked Something Awful in awhile and was wondering how much they're still making on user registrations ($10 for a new account), then I just traced it back to 2002 (first full year with it implemented). This year should end around $16,000; best year was 2004 ($257,700); biggest drop was 2013-2014 (~56% drop). SA's particulars aside, this probably tracks with "death of the message board as internet communication" pretty well."

2013 was the year that aatrek was doxxed by Something Sensitive and revealed to be a registered sex offender due to being convicted on pedophilia charges. After that a shitload of moderators and administrators stepped down or became inactive. Not a surprise the drop between 2013 and 2014 was significant.

New registrations, like GDP, is a highly flawed educated guess. Remember mods like to hand out parachute accounts to toadies who get in too deep or get banned in the line of duty (licking mod asshole). Also ignores reregs and upgrades.

Perma banning everyone that made this site interesting does not help either. Not just the people who were banned dont come back, but others do notice and it can have a knock on effect, just small ripples in the river when they see the dictatorship and dont want to be part of it anymore.

Jesus fucking christ

Wasn't 2013/14 the time when they thought they could alienate the biggest part of their community by nuking GBS? That was the worst business decision that could have been made for that site, it was its bread and butter. GBSv.2 just was not the same.
