I want to say about half of the goons on Somthing Awful talk as if they're literally the exact same person, right down to the same opinions and tastes.
 
I think it used to be "ironic" where they were mocking people, but then after a bunch of the problematic people got culled, now people genuinely use it to be snarky but inoffensive, while trying to come off as morally superior.
 
I think the sameness boils down to the trigger happy banning and dogpiling. The more you seem like the next person, the fewer things can potentially make you a target.
