The forums don't work that much better than they did in 2005; I wouldn't be running around handing that out as an achievement. Also, ZDR was MIA for a while and everything was fine (better even).

Lowtax is actually capable of keeping the forum limping along. The issue is it takes effort and takes away time from Facebook and hearthstone.

ZDR stunted his professional growth so he could lord over a dead forum and ban people he didn’t like. Now he’s a contract code monkey that’s begging for peanuts. I’m also loling at how pissed the vulnerable p oh ceees must be about this white man taking their cuck bucks.

I mean, he isn't really. Apparently he can't afford to have anything professionally fixed or migrated to a new forum because he's broke.

I mean fuck, I don't like ZDR but it sure seems like Lowtax (if business was good) probably could have tossed him the $2,000 he's asking for considering he's been working for free the whole time instead of sending him to the forums with hat in hand. It's a sorry state that the only people that make money off the site are Lowtax and the coupons mod that's getting referral dollars.

Fuck ZDR and his sick wife. Waaahhhhh I cant manage my money give me pity bucks. Maybe get a real job where you get benefits and shit. Oh no I have 2 weeks off, surely this is an insurmountable obstacle that I could have never seen coming (even though he said it happens every year). Fuck everybody who runs that site. I hope they all get tumors and die.

I mean - you aren't wrong. The point still stands though that he contributed to SA all year (allegedly) and if Lowtax had a spine $2,000 could easily be given as a Christmas bonus or something.

It really just highlights how embarrassing the state of SA is, they can't even afford a single full-time site administrator. There are Let's Play channels with more full-time staff than the entirety of SA.

I have no sympathy for ZDR's finances because this fucker is suffering the consequences of making a bad bet.

Basically instead of going with a higher premium plan with lower out-of-pocket maxes, the fucker took the high deductible option and discovered that "oh shit there is a reason you pay $300 instead $100 a month fuuuuuuck". Also the complete lack of planning for his usual Christmas furlow.

What's the shittiest is coming to a community of strangers and starting to beg for money even though you pretty much already turned their back on them before and let them know that you don't care about their problems in various ways. Sick wife or not, I don't even think I'd get that idea if I was in that position. It just literally wouldn't cross my mind to do it. I also couldn't possibly imagine a situation in life where 1.5k would make a long-lasting difference to the point where actively e-begging to strangers on christmas would be worth it.

I'd rather sell some of the stuff I have or just go ahead and make debt. Shows you what quality people they probably are. Wouldn't be surprised to hear that this wasn't the full story. It's also kinda shameful to even bring the sick wife up, because let's face it, 1.5k won't make any difference in payment of anything cancer-related. That money is a pittance measured up to medical costs regarding cancer.

Also if $2,000 represents a 2 week paycheck for ZDR, it means he's trying to keep his wife alive and live on $52,000 a year - which is a really low number for a joint income and also very low for being in the IT field (if he is). It means he's working helpdesk (level 2 maybe) but instead of spending so much time on SA it sounds like he really needs to get out there and find a new job or a side job to fill that time with instead.

I’m guessing he asked lowtax for some paid work and lowtax told him to beg from the forums. Since the original ask was for 1500 and he raised it to 2000 I bet lowtax asked for a cut.

He could have spent the last several years improving his skills and making himself more
marketable but he decided to work on the forums for free so he could punish those that didn’t agree with him.

He could have literally spent his time writing comissioned fanfiction and made more side money than helping to run SA for free. He could part-time at Wendy's, he could walk dogs, or he could even bang on an empty container like a drum on a street corner and put out a tip case and come out with more money.

Speaking in generalities:
If he is not an independent contractor employed directly by the business, his contracting firm SHOULD have a "Stand-by" rate. Especially if this is this a routine furlowing on the contract, they should have some money set aside to give them a check during the furlow, but not as big as a normal check. Even if he is an independent contractor contracting directly with the business, unless ZDR is contracting for ScroogeCorp™ (which is unlikely if the place shuts down for two weeks on christmas) he probably gets some sort of "sorry you aren't getting paid" bonus check that's a portion of what he'd normally be getting, Its just not enough to cover his complete failure at budgeting.

But the fucker had a sick wife and chose the high-deductible plan, and continues to devote hours to volunteering at SA; so it seems like good life choices are not be ZDR's forte, so the odds that he selected a shittiest consultancy to work for are very high.

I can only hope the fucker failed to factor in the ruinous levels of taxes that are levied on e-begging dollars*, but that's probably what the $500 increase to $2000 was.

Since I have self respect, I've never actually dealt with e-begging dollars, and since this isn't his job its likely this will just be reported as ordinary income. So GoFundMe's cut + Normal Income Tax - Medical deduction (provided he actually has a sick wife and not just a shelf that needs filling with Funko Pops).
Anyone with actual GoFundMe experience, please chime in about how that shit went come tax time.

And you know ZDR was one of those shitstains that was saying "Lol lern 2 code bigot!" to all those blue collar guys that were losing their jobs back in 2007.

I hope his sickly wife leaves his ass and finds a real man who can handle his business!
