Today I learned that a significant portion of black poor people are too traumatised to change batteries in their smoke detectors. Thanks, @drewsylva from TikTok!

Case in point, I saw this vid thumbnail on Duke Nukem. Vid is called "We've Got Duke Nukem All Wrong" (with the caption on the thumbnail of "Duke Nukem was always awful" and "Sexist and Misogynistic"). Yep, seems they are definitely trying to paint non-"woke" media as crappy now (and not just "problematic"). SJWs try to bullshit you to be a SJW.

They love to do this. I noticed that a lot with Harry Potter. I'm not a big HP fan by any stretch but I can at least respect the world Rowling created, and I don't doubt that she must be at least somewhat good at writing to captivate a while generation with the stories she tells. But after she turned out to be Fem!Hitler, Genocider of Trannies, all of a sudden all her fans realized her books are actually poorly written, objectively bad, etc etc. (And of course they also found tons of "proof" that she was problematic all along, but that's besides the point.)

They're incapable of separating the artist's political views from the work they create. The cognitive dissonance with "I like this work" and "I'm not allowed to like work by this creator" ends up reconciling as a cope along the lines of "I actually don't like this work it's bad." I don't really see right wingers do this, at least not in as large of a capacity. Doubly surprising when you consider lefties are infinitely more likely to shoehorn in their politics into their work than righties are, so if anything, you'd expect the reverse to be true.

This still doesn't explain how someone can ignore the chirp. The smoke detector people put effort into finding the worst possible brief noise. I'd understand it if broke or drug-addled people took the batteries out, a process with a lot fewer steps, but not being able to tolerate that.

There's an intermittent electronic chirp like that at a local grocery store and it makes me increasingly stressed when I'm there. Are they really trying to keep white non-poor people out of the frozen section?

Unlike Drew who put on his armchair sociologist hat, I will be putting on my armchair psychologist one.

I suspect it's desensitisation: they hear it for so long they completely tune it out. It's kind of like when you smell something different in a room but after five minutes you don't notice it anymore. It might also have to do with being lazy; they're going to have to change the batteries again in a few months, so why bother?

The red that surrounds the tip of the pyramid represents their overt eternal ass pain. The green that surrounds the foundation is a covert nod to the white man's money that keeps getting thrown at them in a futile attempt to build people like this into something worthwhile.
 
I noticed something about "multiculturalism": when there is multiple incompatible ways ("cultures") in a place, it can reduce freedom. Like walking dogs is OK in the Western way, but to Mohammed it is "haram" and "offensive"... so to avoid being "offensive" to Muslims in a very "woke" place, dog-walking or even having dogs as pets can be banned.

There is no god in that cult but a promise of salvation definitely is. Do what we tell you to do and one day we will achieve a perfect, open, tolerant heaven on earth society and you will finally stop feeling horrible about your life.
