Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

  • Suicide Girl model and America's Next Top Model contestant have it, spread on Tumblr, that's why.

A lot of this discussion is really interesting, but it's getting a little off-topic, and it should probably go in the general Social Justice Warriors thread. Here's some Tumblr "racebends" to get us back on track:

Is that Anna wearing socks as gloves?

Considering the racebends, What is with April's face? Is the slanted eyes suppose to mean Asian? Wouldn't that kinda hypocritically come off as racist in some cases?

How is the last one even a racebend? The character's still a redhead, she just has a triangular head and square shoulders.

She's obviously being redesigned as a badly textured polygonal person, a strange race thought extinct by the end of the 90s. Or the forbidden offspring of Phineas and a box of terrible make-up. Hard to tell because it's terribad.

So the mod of BABD tried stalking someone for selfies because they disagreed.

And people still take blogs like them seriously despite harassing people.

Racebends are almost always Black, which makes me think these people have a race fetish.

Someone makes battle corsets and BBAD gets salty again. Because they might be *gasp* used by people who think it will actually protect them. (Granted the man running it was a con-artist.)
Taking a look at the corsets (which granted would be a scam since the man running it is a con-artist), they look like something that could be worn for a larp event of some kind. Does BBAD really think these were seriously made to actually be protective in a real fight? All bikini armor has done in this world (in terms of being used in real life) was either make some people complain about it (whether the complaint is legit or just stupid) or just being used for some larp like dressing up as a bad guy from Road Warrior. Granted, the corsets are not protective but look past the obvious in what they don't cover, the unprotective factor lies more within the material made. Even then, one would literally have to throw out any sort of thinking to even know how unprotective any sort bulletproof armor can be (iirc, don't they only last against a few shots, especially with certain bullet calibers?)

From an aesthetic standpoint, they're nice looking and threw a jacket over them, they'd make for decent night-on-the-town wear.

Project Rooftop often has some really neat and fun designs and alternate takes on comic characters (like superheroes as luchadors or this parody of 90's "extreme" art). But today's designs are pretty dang Tumblr. Some of them aren't too bad and would look better with a more talented artist, but why did he have to make Harleyquinn look like an bulky, ugly man? You can check out his Marvel redesign site here.

Here's some that jumped out...
-I have no real problems with Aurora and Northstar's costumes, but she doesn't even look like a woman.
-What the fuck did you do to Gambit?!
-OMG, this thing looks so stupid.
-A female Puck, I can go with, but why does she have hairy legs?
-No, not Rouge.

"She"? Which one? I can't tell-I actually thought that that was one character in two poses.

Check your privilege! They are destroying the gender binary!
You know for a community that is so big on feminism, they sure hate feminine-looking people.

Also why does every style that doesn't look like anime look like this Adventure Time show with the sausage-shaped mouths and noodly limbs (but with a layer of grime and body hair on top)? Did I miss some important development in the art sphere?

The development was that a simplistic art style became popular, opening the door for lots of people to graft their socio/political/sexual desires onto it.

Same thing happened with My Little Pony.

In fact, the same thing has happened with every popular comic/cartoon, I'd bet. But the presence of the internet means most of it went unseen, and the more simplified the character design, the easier it is to get away with low artistic skill when aping a modern cartoon than something from the 80's where the animation aspect was lousy, but the designs were much more robust.

It probably helps that when it comes to actually doing cartoons, the animators have to draw the same thing a lot so a simple design kinda helps.

Problem is a lot of these sjw types more or less take it to the logical extreme. It's basically this face:
Podcast-Kamichama-Karin-Derp-Eyes.jpg

But applied to modern cartoons. Of course they're not the only ones who'd do stuff like we've seen but... most people are more in it for the art (hi!) and thus might be prompted to, say, try something less derpy/ugly. Except most of the people covered in this thread aren't in it for art, they're in it to use a popular medium as a mouthpiece.

But one is actually somewhat cute and visually appealing, and this tumblr shit is just gross and ugly and unpleasant to look at, colored and drawn like hammered shit.

Reason for an Adventure Time like art style is that 1) most tumblrinas would just want to take a lot of shortcuts as possible and 2) they would try to use it because it comes from some cartoon they love to sperg over for whatever reason.

The tumblr shit not only comes off as unappealing but it also ends up getting used as some mouth piece in some cases compared to the former, whether its complaining about CIS white men or how no one pays attention to what their preferred pronoun is.

That's what I was trying to say earlier, thank you.

It's a simple way to mass-produce feel-feel, and, no surprise, they fail at it just the same. And trust me, there's a lot of drawn-like-hammered-shit ponies out there too.... all over DA, fallout from the last SJW art-surrogate craze.

I'll have to ask my brother sometime, but, he actually went to art school and, one of his guilty pleasures was watching those who didn't have any artistic talent beyond just aping popular cartoons flunked out, I'll bet they're the ones doing this stuff.....
