Why does Tumblr have an obsession with vitiligo?

The people I know that have vitiligo tend to have it confined to extremities, not the freaky patches you'd be more likely to see in tumblr art.

Wow, having vitiligo sucks. Why do these tumblr artists like it so much? It not only affects your health, but possibly your self-esteem and social life too. And you people have enough self-esteem problems already.

Purely aesthetic reasons, I suppose. It's a quick way to make a character look special :tumblr:.

Also they have no empathy for the outcome of having a condition they just see something different and envy it. Greedy gluttons eager to prove they're different because they know that they're interchangeable with any other one of their group that's why they're obsessed with looks or labels and hate merit they know if it came down to what they could provide they're up shit creek without a paddle.
 
Vitiligo's the shit art flavor of the week. Next week's big thing is giving everyone Polio.

I'd considered having a character with vitiligo for a project years ago, but she would have been with a lot of other characters with different deformities or mental and psychological conditions. She'd be but one in a cast of basically a group of people who would be considered freaks, and there would have been a lot of exploration on how these different conditions affected each of the characters, and how they dealt with them.

Tumblr has very much put me off of pursuing this project, at least for the forseeable future. :heart-empty:

Isn't vitiligo the same condition that turned Michael Jackson's skin white? Considering how difficult it was for him to live like that, you'd think that SJWs would act more sensible when depicting vitiligo in fanart...but that's asking too much from them.
