On the topic of good ol' Disney Princesses, there's now a Latina princess. That's good, right? I like the idea and her design. I personally think that the 3d tv animation style is much more charming and closer to the original hand drawn style. Seriously, that art style of the first two is so bland. And these people are the same kind who'll scream "PLATONIC RELATIONSHIPS EXIST!1!1!". Seriously, little kids don't give a shit about your sexuality, social issues and insecurities. It's always grown adults bitching about it in "defense" of kids who really don't care and just want to watch a good cartoon.
 
Well, at least they're drawn pretty. It would've been easy for them to turn Elena into a fat mustachioed manly bitch ala Rory.

(although her design is quite stereotypical, but that's for another day...)

This isn't super horrible since they seem drawn on model and without the ugly art. That said it is creepy to draw shippy art from a Disney Junior show. Their usual targets seem to be kids' shows but usually not ones for kids that young. Probably only latched onto this one because she's not white.

Really? Odd, you'd think they'd be drooling over her since she's single and fits the "spicy latina woman" stereotype look they love so much. She's even a brown latina, the only "good" type of latina in their eyes...

I saw her brought up on a controversial characters blog, and they're upset that she's only got a TV show and not a movie.

Yeah, Elena of Avalor was pretty much created after the backlash from Sofia the First. Sofia was, by all intents and purposes, supposed to be the first Latina Disney Princess. But people got butthurt that she wasn't brown (if not stereotypical) enough -never mind the fact there are Latino/Latina people who are naturally as white as Caucasians are-, so Disney backpedaled on Sofia and is now pushing Elena pretty hard as the first Latina Disney Princess.

And FWIW, Elena has a sizable presence in the parks right now (including the daily parade, meet and greets). While it's not like the blitz the Disney Afternoon had in its early days (Rescue Rangers even got a ride, albeit a kiddie one), it's at least something.

Why are they bald, Zim's human disguise has hair (albeit pretty hilariously bad hair)
Why do they have Ren and Stimpy tattoos
Why is Red wearing a Seinfeld hat
Why is Red wearing a shirt that says "I'm Pussy?", its like some sort of bad Engrish shirt what in god's name
Why would earless aliens be invested in ear piercing
