I'm pretty sure he realized there was more money to be made from pandering to the tumblr types rather than piss them off, especially since most of them were too dumb to realize when he was outright mocking them.
 
late to the party as always, bringing thoughts no one asked for:
in regards to rednose, that part of the skin is sensitive to temperature and i guess it's easier to shade the nose if it's a blushy color, but there's a difference between skin tones and fucking clown makeup

and in regards to body diversity, it's like. GREAT when it comes to character design, and when it comes to fnaf humanizations, heavy set characters make sense if you look at the originals, but crossing the line into fetishistic makes me vomit in my mouth a little

sometimes it's hard to distinguish between diversity and pandering, but sometimes people get a LITTLE too excited and end up with 50 cookie cutter characters on the opposite end of the spectrum. you tried, but that's still not diverse lol

If I didn't know this was supposed to be fan art of Steven Universe, I would think it's okay. It's very hard to tell who the characters are, though.
 
It's not that bad a style anyway (that Steven and Lapis). It looks more appealing than the standard style of the show.

The problem is that Lapis' hair is the wrong color and style and her eyes are too light. (Lapis' eyes and hair are dark blue.) I can under that it's not easy to do that hairdo with kinkier hair, but there was no excuse not to get the color right. I do like how she did Steven, though.

Forget Pearl what is that snaggletooth monkey next to her? I can't believe this. They say Pearl is coded Jewish and then draw her with a massive hook nose. They say Amethyst is coded black and then draw her like a monkey. I don't think this can get any more ironic if it tried.
