the ambiguously brown skin trope strikes again. gotta love how this looks like the ugly rcdarts style too, which has become a pretty popular art style to emulate. the shapeless feet, obnoxiously segmented bodies, unfitting faces. it's funny how an attempt at uniquely stylizing it has ended up making it look unoriginal and garish.

It really bothers me that the two in the middle are actually drawn being somewhat attractive while the two on the ends are hideous blobs that look like they're wearing the heads of two normal sized people. It's stupid I know, but it's like if you're gonna make them ugly make them ugly and if you're gonna make them look good make them look good. Don't show us that you're capable of drawing something good and then turn around a draw something awful.

is it just me or does tumblr still manage to try to pretty-afy fat people in drawings? i know there a atrocities who don't do this, as shown in this thread, but a lot of the time they leave out the stretch marks and cellulite. make it just look plump and totally normal
like they are tryna make fat look cute or something when really it is your body fucking STRAINING under all those rolls.

It ties into their rabid pormotion of "fat acceptance" - by making it look 'cute' they imply that they, hideous flabmonsters that many of them are, are also cute.

So much for diversity quota, iirc ambiguously brown was usually used when the character didn't have strong ties to whatever cultural backgrounds and was just sort of there.
That being said: I'm sad that they've flogged it hell and back with overuse, as it was fun to use in Post-Apoc settings.

-Thank God someone else noticed the lack of rolls and chins on the fat characters! I get the chubby cutie angle and have seen some good examples, but these guys swing between too unrealistic or down-right nasty in their depictions. There's seemingly no middle with these people and that makes this whole "body positivity is great uwu" thing all the more hysterical for me.

Honestly, i dont mind characters having weird shit on them if its not over used.

I dont think they realize that an artist who has to draw a couple of dozen pages of a comic each week, or an animator who has to animate god knows how many minutes cant afford to draw characters with hair, freckles all over their body etc. on every page.

Tumblrnose may as well be the Liefeld's disease of this generation. While Liefeld's came from a comic book artist that actually worked in the industry, Tumblr nose came from some person on Tumblr whose art style was "good enough" in the eyes of others to imitate.

Liefeld's excesses to some extent came from an actual context, in which he would often draw things outsized that were in motion or otherwise to draw attention to some aspect of the character. Only if you actually paused and analyzed it did you realize how ridiculous it was. This was probably what ultimately undid Liefeld because once you saw it you couldn't unsee it.

There's literally no excuse for tumblr nose and everyone having vitiligo and other diseases.

He removed not only that but also the jokes about the kid with the aviator shades being a white rapper that were made years before SJWish types latched onto Homestuck.
He didn't remove the puppet that was a reference to an older short comic he did of old man adopting a stereotypical black midget though.
He just let those pages go 404 because they weren't Homestuck.

Speaking of the shades kid i heard somewhere he inexplicably retconned his character into being A flaming homosexual or something recently solely to pander to Tumblr's weird obesession with making him gay/trans/black with vitaligo as seen previously in this thread. Not sure if that statement is entirely true or not but I Wouldn't doubt it at this point considering how It wouldn't be the first time he changed something to pander to these guys.

My guess is that since Homestuck really found its audience on Tumblr - before everything turned into identity politics shit on the site, anyway - a combination of realizing his audience changed, the fact that they all fucking loved this little shit despite the fact that he was created to mock them proving they're too damn thick to get satire, the fact that fighting them would end up being a losing battle that just makes you look particularly exceptional (think what Takashi's become), and what I assume is straight up creator fatigue (i.e. "I'm so sick of drawing/writing this stupid comic") just led him to giving up and giving in.

I mean, a lot of long-time fans seem to have noticed, Hussie's almost gone full Jhonen Vasquez with disliking his fans. Like yeah, they gave him money and internet fame, but there's so many screaming shitheads among them, was it really worth it in the end?

Tumblr honestly killed homestuck for me. I was interested in it and wanted to start reading it, but when i saw all the sjw infested art and headcanons i backed away.
