I once read an interesting theory on that. Basically, Marvel doesn't really care about comic sales anymore - they're peanuts compared to what they're making on their movies. Rather than try to tell interesting and well-written stories to make a little more chump change, they're using their comics division to aggressively earn progressive brownie points. This way, they have something to point to when people start complaining that the Marvel movies don't have a lot of women and minorities in them, because that shit doesn't sell in China.

I don't really think that's what's going on, but I thought it was an interesting take on it.

Marvel basically has Disney as their sugar daddy, so they could pump out failure books and they still wouldn't be anywhere near the late 90's bankruptcy level. Thing is though, if you look very carefully at the sales charts each month since this summer, the Star Wars tie-ins are practically the only Marvel books cracking the top 10: the others are either DC (which, I gotta be real, has made a huge recovery across the board after 'Rebirth') and Image with 'The Walking Dead' and 'Saga'. And like with the cape comic movie bubble, Marvel can't coast on Star Wars entirely if the capeshit begins to seriously tank, because there'll come a time when the Star Wars bubble finally bursts, too.

I don't think there is anything wrong with diversity in comics and having Legacy heroes who aren't white males. But Marvel is going about it in such a hamfisted, "Oh, look at how diverse we are" showboating way (including visits to The View, ughhh), while DC just lets the stories and characters speak for themselves. (This is not to say DC is a spotless lamb, but they handle this sort of thing far better than Marvel does, really)

But this is running the risk of getting off topic, so I'll just leave this here:

This was tagged as being Jade Harley from Homestuck, by the way.

With statements like those, Rory's writing checks that her ego won't be able to cash when the time finally comes. Especially if she backs up her self-puffing, goes to a big comic convention, and has one of the big companies (or even ones like IDW or Oni) do a portfolio review, she's going to be in for the rudest awakening in her entire life. And she won't listen or take the critcism to improve herself, no, she's going cry foul, hurt feefees, and transphobia/misogyny/whatever the 'get out of jail free' card is these days.

What an idiot.

The Mary Sue might come to her side, but that might depend on how soon this rejection happens. Maybe Everyday Feminism might as well.

The thing with these SJW-approved redesigns is that they're either "diversity" pandering or bland and non-offensive. The colors have to be some kind of dull gray-black mix or muted, details must lack personality, women must be covered in bulkier and plainer looking stuff. (These new Wildstorm remake designs fall into the later category.)

Couldn't hurt to actually give the first one a gun and a blade? Maybe some actual armor due to the fact her original design does seem to incorporate bits of armor. All they did was put in her normal clothes and give her a trench coat that's missing the mass shooter edge.

Second one though doesn't look too bad but it's more of a mix between some cyborg and metal gear than a metal robo-woman. Second one doesn't really look too bad but honestly, it feels more like someone making an OC than a redesign.

The new Engineer's look is fine enough, but it feels like something is missing. The metal parts of the original's body were nanobites that cover her (they have a liquid-like form) and allows for easy morphing into anything she needs such as turning her arm into a gun. I liked the simplicity of it (the nipples I could do without) and that having a more liquid-like aspect was a different take on the usual tech character. (Usually their defense is more armor-based and solid.) I feel like they just took out something that made her look a bit unique on an artistic level.

The second one looks like an anthro plane

Considering the second character's original body were nanomachines, they could of done it better by making her similar to a liquid metal terminator than some mix between a cyborg and a metal gear.

literally just here to laugh at the fact someone was calling tearzah's copy-paste-a-thousand-times-over art "good". sure like, technically? it's good. but when all your pieces blend into one you should start considering a change in perspective.
or facial expression.

aside from that tumblr is built on pandering to people so really what did we expect.

European SJWs are just a special case apart since you sit down and wonder how is it that they care so much about the same issues as American ones? They've got no white guilt from slavery or Native American genocide to have this "i'm sorry for being white" attitude, not to mention their countries aren't as ethnically diverse as the USA is. What's their problem?

They've probably got white guilt over European conquests and colonization. Funny thing is countries (white and POC) have done this shit for centuries not that that excuses any of it. But Europe isn't special for conquering shit.

Oh come on, not Zestiria. These characters are too cute for this kind of garbage.

But who am I kidding, nothing is safe. If there's something you like, guarantee there is some tranny race bent art of it somewhere.

The style is not so bad, but goodness does the content reek of tumblr. The artist's also quite salty and passive aggressive (European SJWs are probably more pathetic than American ones tbh, and this one's Finnish).

Check out the artist's notes and her comments, her passive-aggressive preachiness really goes off the handle.

I love these people who act like a child can in no way identify with the personality, struggle, or journey of a princess/cartoon character in general unless she's the same race as the child. Maybe a bit of powerleveling here but I used to work with kids in the 4 to 10 age group as a summer counselor. So I got to see them playing with dolls and shit pretty often. And none of them gave a flying fuck if their action figure had the same skin color or even the same in-show personality as them. More often than not I saw 'Cinderella' and 'GI Joe' becoming shit that the kids made up entirely on their own.

Realistically speaking though, this is probably just the creator projecting their current opinions on their childhood self. Another weird tumblrina thing I noticed. They like to pretend they were like 'always so socially aware even when they was a kiddie' and 'just didn't realize why they were feeling the feel then'. Meanwhile you look at actual kids and again, they don't care.

Also, who the fuck is that kid that Elsa is perving on? She looks like she hasn't even hit 16.

Yeah, SKQ's a Poe, but it says a lot about the state of art trends on Tumblr that so many people think their art is legit.
