The sad thing is that given the state of Marvel today, I'd almost see her being hired to draw for one of their books.

I'd gladly stomach Henderson's misshapen faces and alien eyes over Rory's trans fetishism any day.
What kills me is the EXACT same attitude that got Snapesnogger/OwlyGem in as scalding hot water as she did back in the day. Only now, this kind of egotism is not only encouraged, but accepted. Because Heaven forbid we hurt some snowflake's feefees by saying that a human can't have a waist that thin. Even if it's super stylized, at least the designs in Steven Universe do follow the basic rules of anatomy. Even Genndy Tartakovsky's stuff (look at Dexter's Mom. Rory's art isn't too far from that) has the backbone of anatomical basics behind it. Same thing with Jhonen Vasquez, Brian O'Malley, etc.
With statements like those, Rory's writing checks that her ego won't be able to cash when the time finally comes. Especially if she backs up her self-puffing, goes to a big comic convention, and has one of the big companies (or even ones like IDW or Oni) do a portfolio review, she's going to be in for the rudest awakening in her entire life. And she won't listen or take the critcism to improve herself, no, she's going cry foul, hurt feefees, and transphobia/misogyny/whatever the 'get out of jail free' card is these days.
(And hopefully by then, this bastardized Tumblr/Steven Universe art style will have fallen far out of favor)

I once read an interesting theory on that. Basically, Marvel doesn't really care about comic sales anymore - they're peanuts compared to what they're making on their movies. Rather than try to tell interesting and well-written stories to make a little more chump change, they're using their comics division to aggressively earn progressive brownie points. This way, they have something to point to when people start complaining that the Marvel movies don't have a lot of women and minorities in them, because that shit doesn't sell in China.
I don't really think that's what's going on, but I thought it was an interesting take on it.
Of course, pandering to SJWs on the long run will have horrible consequences.

That doesn't seem like a good business strategy. Eventually the movies will fall out of favor, people will stop going to them - and then all you have is the comic book business to fall back on. This is the kind of situation where you need a backup plan and they're fucking said backup plan up.

And it's kind of a messy plan because, well, the comics only sell mostly in USA/Canada. Europe isn't that much into superhero comics and while there's an audience in South America, it's too small to make a profit (not to mention all the crisis and turmoil down there and in Africa makes it hard to sell comics. I doubt Black Panther or Miss Marvel sell well in the actual Africa/the Middle East. And Asia doesn't give a shit about diversity so they can't sell their gimmick on glorious Nippon).
