Last Christmas my friends cat chewed one of the bulbs and nearly burned down his house...

The cat survived but they no longer have a tree.

Never had a cat that climbed the tree, however they would always go under it and puke a hairball on the tree skirt. Which was why, until the cat died of old age, we had a plain white sheet as the tree skirt.

It was always fun to see how foster dogs reacted to Christmas trees. They'd either be utterly baffled by it, or they'd immediately crawl under it and curl up looking smug.

I always figured the ships were assembled in orbit or in another low-gravity, zero-atmosphere environment that significantly reduced fuel needs....something 75% of the delta-v budget to escape the Earth's SOI is spent just getting into orbit to begin with.
