Sketch and inks of Gohan, I'm doing a ton of drawings based on DBZ manga panels. I've got a sea of sticky notes coming out of every volume because I'm marking all my favorite panels to work on later.

Do you guys just tend to draw whatever you want whenever you want
yes
and use whatever you struggled with to know what to focus on next
yes
or is there another method that helps you know what you should improve on?
probably, but there is no magic trick that's gonna make you an art god overnight

Does the type of paper you use matter or not?
not really. everyone has preferences but as long as it works, it works. i personally think that soft graphite on smooth bristol is pure sex, but to each their own.

draw every day, use reference, the journey is the destination, etc. your imagination will grow like any other muscle, but you have to challenge yourself and all that. here are the unofficial thread mascots offering you some really good advice:

i do recomend you read the art WIP, advice & critique thread to ask questions and post your works in progress if youwant to hear what possibly tou can improve on

Opposite question, how do you guys deal with days where you can't draw?

Dealing with repetitive strain injury rn. Not the first time, probably won't be the last. I'm not old enough to need surgery for CTS but one of my folks did have it, so I'll probably need to get used to resting. I tried drawing lightly the past week but it only kept the inflammation going. No gaming, minimal typing, mostly just been reading comics in my free time. Bored as fuck now.

On days when I can’t draw, I play or compose music. On piano or guitar. Although my “can’t draw” is more due to a block or lack of inspiration, not an injury.
But maybe you could try painting instead? Painting and mainly Fingerpainting is awesome and it doesn’t strain the wrist so much as drawing. I read an advice somewhere, that you should draw from your shoulder, not the wrist to avoid fatigue. No detail, large canvas, big strokes can help with that.
Do you draw daily? How many hours do you spend drawing a day?
BTW you are very talented, I love the work you shared.

If we talking creative block i usually doodle things from weird angles and in weird perspectives
Shapes buildings faces stuff like that.
If we talking phisycal inability to draw (thankfuly i wasnt in such position as of yet) probably reading or playing something not as action intensive like rimworld or factorio.
If you looking something to read i can recommend you Disc world by Terry Pratchett. I kinda borrowed all of my sense of humor from him. But theres a specific order in which you should read them so you would have to look it up.

I appreciate it!
I probably draw 2-3 hours but using a mouse and keyboard probably doesn't help my hand either. Drawing from the arm is something I often tell people when working with charcoal, but at home I draw on an iPad, so big arm movements aren't very natural. Last month I did a project with someone where I probably did about 6 hours a day a few days in a row though, and this week it caught up.
Fingerpainting actually sounds pretty good, I don't have any paints immediately to hand, but I did this on iPad using my left hand for fun.

My biggest flaw is that I never want to spend time on things. For better or worse I always stuck to the goal of sketching people from imagination and I have kind of a block towards painting or putting detail into things.

Discworld is great, I read quite a few as a teen. Started with the Tiffany Aching books then the Rincewind stuff, Witches Abroad etc. I have a weakness for witchy women in media which I attribute to how cool the witches are in those books. I haven't read a real book in a while though, plus I'm worried that I'll go back and find Pratchett cringy now that I'm an adult and 'subversive' fantasy has been done to death.
