The reaction score trained users to use the site wrong - to avoid posting. This is identical to the issue of the reaction notifications training users to use the site wrong - by clicking random notifications to navigate the site.
I think you're seeing this in a very black and white way. There is not just one exact way every user was using sticker notifications (and I don't know if anyone was really out here acting like Bossman and just logging into the site to click the pretty buttons). For me, I've always had everything enabled, Watched Threads, stickers, used bookmarks, etc. and I thought they complimented each other quite well as a reminder to check a thread and remember my place. If the user experience favors (once again, let me save this to a fucking notepad or something) a completely arbitrary and random sequence of notifications about users liking any of your posts in any thread at any time regardless of what other events have transpired in that thread since you made that post, the design is broken. It is fundamentally fucking broken and it has encouraged people to use it wrong. If something is built to be used one way and people prefer clicking random fucking links flowing into your alert tray at complete random, then it is broken.
I was under the impression that you couldn't remove them entirely because of Xenforo limitations. Tbh I would prefer if they were gone completely. What's the point of clicking "I agree" if the other person can't see it? Like I know it sounds fucking stupid and the actual functionality is still there but logically, sayingthe only reason I don't disable them entirely because I loathe the SA habit of empty-quoting and 'agree' posts.
See, I don't really get why you're this upset. This is stupid. From the MATI faggots insisting on muh dopamine hits and how they are totally just pretending to be retarded and NOT owned when they get negrates. To the sticker spergs who keep rage crying to add shit back instead of leaving the thread and taking all of two seconds off their life to press an additional button so things don't get worse for them. To the homosexual pearl clutching people who insist on how they're the ubermensch "using the site properly" and would never make anything but the toppest quality content for everyone to admire (totally not dopamine-seeking behaviour btw!!!). And lastly, the people who have their lipstick smeared with Null's cum.
Of course, while thinking the other groups are the ones coming off like a bunch of gayniggers instead of doing some introspection.
Just use the reactions received page. At this point I use the site like I normally would but I just press one additional button instead. Also I remind the forum that it generally went from wanting more stickers like Political Sperging to wanting less stickers now. If this is the pinnacle of not knowing what you want I don't know what is.
I agree on the utility of the notifications, but I disagree that stickers should now go completely.I'm not trying to convince you to bring them back, I was just hoping to explain a little better the reasoning as to why some people said they used them for site navigation.
If I use a sticker on a post it's to tell the person that I like the post without messing up the thread, it's not for the benefit of others and becomes rather pointless if the person who made the post doesn't know about it. I read every post on threads I look at and I'm not going to go down to the bottom of the post to look at the stickers to see if it's worth reading lol. I find that stickers are now kind of pointless.I agree on the usage of the notifications, but I disagree that stickers should now go completely.
You can still tell someone you agree, or that they’re a retard, and they’ll still see it accumulate on their post while it’s visible on the most recent page (or the reactions page if they care enough to go there).
For people catching up with the thread later, they get to see what users thought of different comments at the time. Again it’s just a quick way of “reading the room”, or nodding in agreement. Many times it doesn’t feel appropriate to add a comment if the thread has moved on, and the stickers let you do that.
It’s a shame that the author now won’t see you doing that, but hell, why should anyone have a bit of enjoyment and community spirit, we should just be cold emotionless posting machines.
10 years ago those reddit posters would go to 4chan and "ironically" write nigger and faggot, because it was "board culture" and never admit to it anywhere else. They will fit in fine just here.I think Null is looking to offload the site to another owner but needs to keep the balance between saying nigger and faggot, while increasing the user base and boosting the public image.
Literally anyone he sells the site to will data mine the users and their comments to then be handed off to the varying government agencies. "I got control of the site and doxed all the evil nazi transphobes! Please give me internet brownie points!"After reading some more of this thread it seems clear cut that:
THe majority of people who hated reaction notifications are low-impulse posters. They prefer fewer notifications and prefer to click more to find what they want to see. Which is odd because reaction notifications could be turned off before.
The majority of people who want the notifications back, were posters who used the notifications as a feedback loop to create better content, or use is a quick bookmark to threads they had posted in (this is why I liked them).
All talk of dopamine is reddit-level gay. The posters who use dopamine as an excuse to why the notifications should be turned off are reddit posters who are wanting to keep out other reddit posters.
TL;DR - good posters used reaction notifications in a positive way. Bad, reddit-tier faggot posters who don't like a mirror held up to their low-impulse, shit-tier updoot posts.

All of that said, is there a reason why the sign-up date is now hidden?
If I was a tinfoil hat wearing maniac, I would see the lack of sticker notifications, the protection of the reddit-tier posters and removal of a sign-up date, are all used to encourage reddit-posters to sign up for the farms.
Many years ago, I sent an email to Null about how his mod staff had been comprimised by power-tripping mods that were looking to take down the site from the inside. Not long after a purge took place.
I think Null is looking to offload the site to another owner but needs to keep the balance between saying nigger and faggot, while increasing the user base and boosting the public image.
Boosting the public image could certainly be part of what’s going on - I don’t see how taking scores and notifications away plays into that, but as a general point I do think KF is trying to become more civilized and shake off its boogeyman image.I think Null is looking to offload the site to another owner but needs to keep the balance between saying nigger and faggot, while increasing the user base and boosting the public image.
He's removed neg-rating. Posts can't be neg rated because the ratings have no score.Boosting the public image could certainly be part of what’s going on - I don’t see how taking scores and notifications away plays into that, but as a general point I do think KF is trying to become more civilized and shake off its boogeyman image.
The formerly privileged caste of venerable elder users and reaction score brahmins have had their sacrosanctcy taken from them and resent this, the only consequence of the changes is the seething provoked. He's removed neg-rating. Posts can't be neg rated because the ratings have no score.
He's removed a join date so newcomers who have dumb opinions won't be scared away by accusations of being a newfag or by mass neg-ratings.
Saying whatever you want in a thread is now fire-and-forget; there's no repercussions for driveby shitposting.
I will say that one good thing to come out of this is that the site has been fast. That's as much consolation as removing posting altogether and saying things improved because the site is super fast now, but I'll take not being stuck for 2 minutes trying to post in a thread. So no, I don't know why it's slow for you.Oh hey the sites super slow for me anyone else getting this?
POV you give a shit about stickersMechanically nothing is different you just don't like it that your magic mana points are gone and you know this but have the IQ to know how petty it looks and so are coming up with nonsense to make it make sense.
