The algorithm recommended me this gem of a channel where a giga autist has been keeping one running for over a year, posting daily updates.

Since I don't know if this is enough to keep a thread, I'll ask if someone tried to do one of went to a place with one running.

This was a thing in medieval taverns because it was cheap and easy to serve lots of people at once.

So its like using the toilet without flushing, for 401 days, but into your mouth? Uggghhhhhhhhh

If you see this man, keep him away from your perpetual stew at all costs. He will eat most of it and then poison the rest and rob you after you pass out. He'll also murder all of your livestock to level up his weapon skills by a few experience points.

I know it's a thing and when maintained properly by keeping simmering and not letting pieces of meat and vegetables stay in the pot for to long is relatively safe but you could never convince me to try it. A team of doctors could test the stew in every way possible and slowly explain in great detail why it's safe but I'd still be to paranoid to take a sip.

They could always look for examples documented in the real world where such stews have been kept going for decades and still get served.

Not going to lie I have watched all of these. Stew peaked in episodes 90-100. IDK what he is doing with that ungodly amount of garlic.
He put 100 cloves in for his 400 anniversary (along with 3 more 100 ingredients), apperantly in the 300 anniversary he put 300 cloves. Pretty sure that stew can kill vampires.

Conceptually there is nothing wrong with the idea of a perpetual stew. But this guy has obviously screwed it up.
Putting audience recommendations is not very smart, but it is pretty funny.

I have something like a perpetual demi-glace going on in my freezer.
Occasionally make broth/stock from frozen food scraps, throw in the remains of the last batch before reducing.

Scrape out a spoonful of the frozen gelatinous slush to add to stews or whatever.
Or just dissolve in a mug of hot water if it happens to be a particularly good batch.

Youtube playlist days 1-337. I couldn't find an up to date playlist sadly.

He cleans the pot regularly and strains the stew. He'll occasionally run it through a cheesecloth to make the broth clearer.

it's an interesting idea but this guy just keeps ruining it for views :(
We wouldn't be talking about it unless he kept it interesting. I was only curious for how the hell he could salvage 100 cloves of garlic and ended up watching 50 episodes because it's just really entertaining to see the ups and downs.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned it yet but there is an entire site dedicated to documenting the stew. Each of these graphs is interactive. You can get stats on individual days and ingredients: how much each ingredient hurt/helped the stew, what days the stew was best, etc.

Wow the rabbit hole keeps getting deeper. I'm trying to see if he tried any wacky ingredients but seems like it's overall sane even if unbalanced.
