For a while now oney has been criticized for scummy merch deals with all their "limited time" and "almost sold out" merch shenanigans and it seems peaople are not really taking it anymore, most of the comment section of their latest youtube community post are about this. Take a look:

I can see it as them reprinting their best selling pins, so if it turns them a profit, whatever. That being said, who the fuck is buying pins?

if someone is retarded enough to spend 65+ dollars for stupid youtuber merch they deserve to get fucked.

It is pretty scummy but I suspect it's an aspect of the business they're not really personally involved in outside of doing voice overs for the ads. I mean they even need to pay a manager to tell them to stop playing games that don't get a lot of views so I'd be surprised if they handled the merch shit themselves.

Still kinda weird that he's apparently too proud for a Patreon yet is seemingly okay with this. People would happily give him money, especially if it means he doesn't have to constantly chase the algorithm and drop fun games that don't pull numbers, but I guess that ship has sailed.

Looks like Tomar's Jewish heritage is rubbing off on Oney.

No, but seriously, only autists buy those pins and I can't say I feel too bad for them since they fell for one of the oldest marketing tricks in the book.

I never understood who buys the bins or collects them. I know Disney's pin community is huge but that's just all shit relating to Disney.

Pins get offered as extras in collectors editions, as promotional items, as limited edition runs of specific pins. And it's like what do you even do with them?

Speaking from experience the pins are usually just to give a work uniform a little extra flair. Women tend to be the ones that fill their vests or hat to the brim with pins and such, men doing something like that is pretty rare and it's usually around 3 pins at the most
E: that being said I can't really justify buying something that would involve a youtuber because that's just an invitation for an awkward conversation.

Based on the selection of pins and the limited stock with reduced price I would say either someone at shark robot found some lost boxes or these are leftovers from cancelled orders etc.
Also I swear I remember the voice of advert Lyle saying "we have limited stock and have no idea if we will print more so if you want one buy now" Which is pretty different to: "you will never ever see this product on sale ever again"

I'm starting to wonder where the channel is headed. They said the reason for the hiatus and slowed schedule is so they can plan out future content, and you don't have to do that just to resume posting content as usual (unless they just want an excuse to slow down for a bit, which might just be the real reason).

My guess is that they'll get a proper setup and start streaming on either twitch or Youtube. LPs have been declining for a while now, and Oney has tested the water for streamingt before, but it was all super basic, so it would make sense to take some time off to take care of the technical side and do a few tests. The edited version of the FF7R stream I posted a while back was a pretty good watch, so they can just do those for people who want to watch something more like their LPs. Bonus/penalty points if they become VTubers.

When I first saw that on my feed something inmediately felt off about it. That's a pretty shitty move but maybe they are just selling excess stock.
DingDong is back to posting on his FA and furry twitter.
I don't know if someone mentioned it but he's also streaming often again.

Chances are they have a contract signed with the management company that obviously prevents them from speaking out about the merch sales, although to be quite honest if you're dumb enough to buy the merch expecting to get a 'steal,' you're an idiot with your money. The point of merch is to support people you like and get a nifty little nick-knack to show for it -- you don't see people complaining that band posters are horrendously overpriced when you go to a show, for example.

"LIMITED TIME ONLY" is lame and arguably even legally dubious, yet it is one of the rare instances where it does feel pretty stupid to see the knick-knack you got for supporting at $30 go for $20 a few months later. Still, the advantages of having a separate management team to coordinate the editing, scheduling, finances, payments, and so-forth are pretty up there.

I'm just hoping they do more Slightly Artistic videos soon. I remember Chris saying they were wanting to do more, but Dave was burnt out from organizing the Newgrounds FF7 collab. Maybe they can bring on some guests like Sr Pelo again. I would love it if they brought on Jeff, just so Chris and Corey can torment him, or Zach, because I want to see what monstrosities his little goblin brain comes up with.

Yeah actually, I just checked and he and Julian are streaming on Picarto right now with one playing VRChat and the other drawing.
