Nobody likes to be part of a project everybody hates, money or not. The good side here is that Mackey can now use some of that money to fund or push for projects he wants to be involved and be part of that are more demanding and challenging and he can be as creatively involved as he wants.
Putting that aside, I really don't see much of a future for the MCU. With Feige saying that the X-Men will be important AFTER Secret Wars, it will be years until Disney/Marvel can make some money, and that of course if they don't fuck up the mutants, something I don't trust them to do right.
All of these movies feel a bit like Marvel's just making time until they can adapt the X-Men, and then put all of their hopes there. And then, how the fuck are they gonna manage the Avengers, the Thunderbolts, The F4,
and the X-Men? The full Marvel cast is gonna be huge if most of them make it until whatever is the end. The smart thing would be to keep the X-Men in a different universe in case their main line fucks up, but they are too greedy. As much as I like the X-Men, I really think it's not gonna be good and we might end up missing the Fox universe.
Speaking of...
I actually thought the trailer looked quite fun, but then I genuinely cringed at the end, when that happened. Stop doing that shit. That bullshit post-modern cynicism, where everybody pretends to be quietly embarrassed of the comic booky stuff. Have a bit of fucking confidence in the ridiculousness of the intellectual properties you own.
Yeah, I see they have learned nothing of the success of Wolverine and Deadpool. Yeah, I know the filming likely wrapped before the movie was released, but still, they should have just removed this scene. Disney really doesn't learn anything and they will keep making the same mistakes again and again and then wonder why their movies keep bombing.
